Installing UniPrint Spool Server on a Windows 2008 Cluster Node

1. Log on to the active node with administrative rights and run the installation program, UPSpoolServer703.msi.

2. In the UniPrint Spool Server 7.0.3 Installation dialog box, click

Next.

3. In the License Agreement dialog box, click I accept the license agreement and then click Next to proceed with the installation.

4. In the Destination Folder dialog box, click Next to accept the default location for the UniPrint Spool Server program files. Click

Browse to change the default location.

5. In the Select Features dialog box, click Next to install the License Server and PrintPAL Server on this machine. If you choose not to install License Server or PrintPAL Server, click beside the

component and then click .

6. In the Ready to Install the Application dialog box, click Install to begin the installation. UniPrint Setup will now copy files to your hard disk drive.

7. Click Finish to complete the installation.

8. Click Start, point to Administrative Tools and then click Failover Cluster Management.

9. In the console tree, click to select the cluster name.

10. In the center pane, click Cluster Core Resources to expand this section.

11. Expand the cluster name and record the cluster IP address. This information is required when installing the other UniPrint Gateway components.

12. Click Start, click Administrative Tools and then click Services. Ensure that the following services have been created and are set to

Automatic Startup:

• UniPrint Control Service • UniPrint Routing Service

NOTE

Since in a failover cluster, services are controlled by Microsoft Cluster Services, the startup type will change to Manual after these services are configured for high availability. For more information, see ”Configuring UniPrint Spool Server Cluster Resources in Windows 2008” on page 30.

13. Install UniPrint Spool Server on the remaining nodes.

Adding the Print Server Role

The following instructions describe how to add the Print Server role. The Print Server role must be added to each node in the cluster. If the Print Server role has already been added, proceed to ”Adding & Configuring the Print Server Service” on page 30.

1. Click Start, click Administrative Tools and then click Server Manager.

2. In the left pane, right-click Roles and then click Add Roles.

3. In the Before you Begin dialog box, click Next.

4. In the Select Server Roles dialog box, select Print Services and then click Next.

5. In the Print Services dialog box, click Next.

6. In the Select Role Services dialog box, ensure the Print Server is selected and then click Next.

7. In the Confirm Installation Selections dialog box, click Install.

8. In the Installation Results dialog box, click Close.

Adding & Configuring the Print Server Service

Follow the instructions below to add and configure the Print Server service for high availability. If you already have a Print Server service, proceed to ”Adding & Configuring UniPrint Routing Service Resource” on page 32.

Administrative Tools and then click Failover Cluster Management.

2. If the console tree is collapsed, expand the tree under the cluster name.

3. Right-click Services and Applications and then click Configure a Service or Application. This will invoke the High Availability Wizard.

4. In the Before You Begin dialog box, click Next.

5. In the Select Service dialog box, click Print Server and then click

Next.

6. In the Client Access Point dialog box, type MySpooler, select a

network and then type an IP address that will be used. Click Next.

7. In the Select Storage dialog box, select a storage volume that the clustered print server should use and then click Next.

8. In the Confirmation dialog box, review the information provided and then click Next. The wizard will make Print Server highly available on your network.

9. In the Summary dialog box, click Finish to close the wizard.

10. Click Start and then click Run.

11. In the Run dialog box, type regedit and then click OK.

12. In the registry, expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\UniPrint\Control Service.

13. On the Edit menu, click New and then click String Value.

14. Type the name of this new key, clusternetworkname.

15. Right-click clusternetworkname and then click Modify.

16. In the Edit String dialog box, under Value data, type MySpooler

and then click OK.

NOTE

If the quorum drive is set up on a non-default location in the cluster, the shared path registry key is required. Enter the path of your quorum under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\UniPrint\Control

Service\SharedPath.

Adding & Configuring UniPrint Control Service Resource

1. From any UniPrint Spool Server node, click Start, point to

Administrative Tools and then click Failover Cluster Management.

2. If the console tree is collapsed, expand the tree under the cluster name.

3. Expand Services and Applications, right-click MySpooler, point to Add a resource and then click Generic Service.

4. In the Select Service dialog box, click to select UniPrint Control Service and then click Next.

5. In the Confirmation dialog box, click Next.

6. In the Summary dialog box, click Finish.

7. In the center pane, right-click UniPrint Control Service and then click Properties.

8. Click the Dependencies tab, click Insert and then from the

Resource list, select Print Spooler. Click OK.

9. Click the Registry Replication tab and then click Add.

10. In the Registry Key dialog box, enter SOFTWARE\UniPrint and then

click OK.

11. Right-click UniPrint Control Service, and then click Bring this resource online.

Adding & Configuring UniPrint Routing Service Resource

1. Under Services and Applications, right-click MySpooler, point to

Service and then click Next.

3. In the Confirmation dialog box, click Next.

4. In the Summary dialog box, click Finish.

5. In the center pane, right-click UniPrint Routing Service and then click Properties.

6. Click the Dependencies tab, click Insert and then from the

Resource list, select Print Spooler.

7. Click Insert and then from the Resource list select the IP address

of the Print Spooler. Click OK.

8. Click the Registry Replication tab and then click Add.

9. In the Registry Key dialog box, enter SOFTWARE\UniPrint and then

click OK.

10. Right-click UniPrint Routing Service, and then click Bring this resource online.
