still become overwhelmed, but now I can calm myself down much easier

In document Ultimate AntiAging Program (Page 110-118)

I do not kill myself working now. I know I am human and that I can only do what I am capable of doing. I let the people I do work for know this.

I am making as much time as I can for play. Instead of saying I want to do something or travel somewhere someday I am planning and doing those things now.

—Marcia D.

Three months before I joined the study I was diagnosed with a melanoma in m y right eye. I am legally blind in m y left eye, so I was terrified. I was told that it was not small, but not large. My treatment options included removing the eye, radiation—which would leave me blind within five years. Only by probing did I find out that I had the option of doing nothing. The doctor told me that I could "watch it"—but if the cancer grew, it would spread to m y liver and I would be dead within a year.

I decided not to just watch it, but instead to do something to be rid of it, or never let it grow.

The first mental challenge was dealing with the authorities. The words of traditional medical doctors were very powerful. The words of Gary Null were also powerful. I needed to become m y own authority.

I was also overweight and not taking care of m y body. I knew that I was eating poorly. I knew that the cancer was a wakeup call that literally held a gun to m y head. I also had migraine headaches, chronic lower back problems, prostate problems, rotator cuff problems in m y right shoulder, and arthritis in m y right big toe.

Since beginning the protocol, the melanoma has not grown for eight months. The migraines virtually disappeared about two months after changing m y diet. I lost thirty-five pounds, and m y back problem has shown marked improvement.

Before I began the program, I took a product made of saw palmetto and other herbs for m y prostate problems, but it didn't help. Now it works. My body is receptive to healing.

My shoulder is about the same—a minor problem—and m y toe is slightly better.

Overall, I just feel better. My energy level varies, but on the whole I am much more energetic, and feel I have a younger body that knows how to heal itself.

102 Gary Null's Ultimate Anti-Aging Program

In the course of the study, I have eliminated dairy, flour, processed food, etc. I have identified and eliminated food allergies. In addition, I've learned and felt

the benefits of eating a healthy diet.

I ha ve wonderful skin, and I no longer ha ve colds or sin us problems, which plagued me most of m y life. I have more energy, and I no longer experience painful menstrual cramps.

I am able to feel m y body processes working. I listen to m y body—I never did that before. If I feel any major changes, I am able to identify what the cause was, i.e., sinus headache—I ate something that I was allergic to.

— Nevea V.

M y intention [when I started the study group] was to get healthy, to get some energy and gain a feeling of self-motivation back in m y life. Well, it happened.

I started to let go of things in m y life like: I cleaned out m y basement. This was a big thing for me, since I had not touched it in fifteen years—I just threw everything away.

I noticed that I was arguing less and less with m y wife. I bought her a copy of your book, Who Are You Really? It helped.

As far as m y health is concerned, m y energy came back. I started to feel good. M y skin became younger-looking, and I began to look at the world differ

ently. Other things started to change also. When I was eighteen years old, as a soccer player, I was kicked on the back of m y left leg. That injury turned into varicose veins. Seven months into the protocol, the varicose veins started to shrink. They are now half the size of what they used to be. That is unbelievable.

I now need only six or seven hours of sleep a night.

I would say that I have stuck with the protocol 90 percent. Gary, I would love to go to the next level with you. My life is different; m y children's lives are different; m y wife's life is different. Things are going great, thanks to you.

— Tom G.

I would like to begin by saying thank you for having been the catalyst that is leading to many positive and exciting things in m y life. As a result of being in this group, I have seen some specific changes in m y physical health and have also developed a far greater awareness of the joy and love in my life and my relationships.

I will start by telling you about the physical changes. I have had two prob

lems that I wanted to try to address differently, since traditional methods were not working. For one, I suffered from headaches for what seems like years.

Sometimes, they were just bothersome tension-type headaches, and some

times they were migraines, close to debilitating.

Since joining the group [eight months earlier] I have been eating a primar

ily vegetarian diet—including fish; have eliminated caffeine, and, to a large extent, refined sugar; have exercised, and have basically followed the protocol laid out for us. Iam happy to be able to say that the frequent tension headaches just don't seem to occur anymore. What this means for me is that I have no need for the Tylenol or ibuprofen tha 11 took regularly—probably on an a verage of four pills a day for any number of years. The next thing I hope to conquer is the migraines.

I also have had a problem with cold sores. I had an episode a few years ago in which the virus appeared in one of m y eyes. Fortunately, m y vision wasn't affected, but I did have the cornea scraped, which was a frightening experience.

Since being in the study group and making the nutritional changes, the episodes and severity of cold sores have slowed down, and I have been able to stop taking the antibiotic that was originally recommended. I want to continue working to eliminate them altogether, however.

As I think about the rest of m y life to date. I know that I have been very fortunate. I am basically an optimistic person and feel loved and respected in m y relationships—this includes in m y professional role as well as in m y relationship with m y husband, our five children, and close friends. I also know that I am effective at what I do. I am an intelligent, supportive woman and have a natural desire to learn new things. And having been in the group has introduced me to many new things that I want to explore. For example, I have enrolled in a fascinating course called Mind Body Health in which I am learn

ing how to practice mindfulness meditation. I am also studying T'ai Chi as a result of having learned about it in our group. But having read Who Are You Really? was probably the most exhilarating experience of all. To be able to understand m y own energies and those of the people around me has given me far greater insight and understanding and almost a sense of power or, perhaps better said, empowerment.

104 Gary Null's Ultimate Anti-Aging Program

How have I changed since I began the program six months ago?

1 now exercise six days a week. When I first started walking, it took me thirty minutes to walk a mile. Now 1 walk a fifteen- to sixteen-minute mile!

I've lost more than sixty pounds.

I have eliminated two toxic people in my life.

• I sleep less and better.

• My skin has cleared up.

1 has e better bladder control.

I don't talk on the phone at night anymore, giving me much more free time. Now I do yoga one night and meditate every night.

• I don't gossip or listen to gossip, and I don't engage in negative conver

sations.

I am happier.

• I feel joy.

• I am a better healer, a better doctor, a better human being.

With my mental and physical improvement, m y patient numbers have in

creased because of m y attitude, and because I am physically stronger, I can see more patients.

Life is good.

Before joining the study, I was continually challenged with chronic fatigue.

Every day I would be troubled by low energy and other physical symptoms. My adrenal glands were underactive and I was almost constantly under stress. I had hypoglycemia and felt a gnawing hunger until the evening. I was too tired to exercise. I had allergies and sensitivities to many foods and chemicals, and had repeated bouts of sinus infections. My thyroid function was low. I was cold and tired, and I had trouble at night, occasionally waking and not being able to fall asleep again for many hours.

Now I have more energy. Yes! I knew / could, since I had had short epi

sodes of high energy before. I haven't had a sinus infection in ages. I feel a sense of physical integration that I attribute to many things, but especially to T'ai Chi and Chi Gong exercises. My hypoglycemia is practically gone. I don't feel stressed out to the point of being wasted mentally and physically. I wake up earlier and more alert than before.

— Stacey T., D.C.

I trust m y body to heal itself. I got rid of m y prescription medications.

. . . I see myself as integrating m y life more and more in the future, and combining m y work with m y friends. I feel that keeping healthy, in every way, is not just a personal priority, but it helps in m y mission to help others and in m y environmental work. I am looking forward to the rest of m y life with joy and love!

—Eleanor H.

I would like to share some of the changes I have experienced in the four months since I began this program. Spiritually, I feel as though we, the mem

bers, are all one from the same source and receiving the same benefits; for example, breathing the same air, receiving the same sunshine and rain, and desiring the same inner peace.

Emotionally, because of this spiritual awareness, I am able to control my emotions faster. This is due to the fact that I am aware that I can return to the spiritual source for any kind of relief I need. Also, I have discovered that my mental attitude now relaxes m y physical body, and I feel less anxiety, less im

patience, and more understanding when I interact with m y fellow man.

Because of these improvements in m y life within such a short time, I must say thanks a lot.

—Samuel N.

The effects your program has had on m y life are very powerful. I gave up meat and fowl, sugar and dairy foods soon after starting the program. I had started an exercise program before coming into the study, so I continued it. I gave up drinking twenty-one years ago and smoking ten years ago. Giving up my life

long habit of negative thinking and indulging negative emotions is a different proposition, but I've made real progress with it. I no longer look for the worse parts of a given situation, while ignoring the good. I now find myself feeling very uncomfortable around negative, complaining people, and I quickly get away from them.

I've been putting the program's behavior and attitude modification tech

niques to work in my life as much as possible, and they've been very beneficial.

One thing that's been really helpful is the signs and sayings on the mirror. I put a picture of m y desired weight goal on m y bathroom mirror, on the

era tor, and on the dashboard of my car. The effect on my appetite has been tremendous.

I've been very religious about taking the supplements, and judging from the various effects I'm having, they are doing their job.

Some of the changes I've experienced are:

Weight loss: 30 percent of goal.

Broke my self-imposed five-mile running barrier for the first time m fifteen years, running eight miles.

• I had lost part of my sense of smell five years ago, and it has definitely improved since starting the program.

Increased hair growth and decrease in amount of gray.

• Large increase in energy—no more comatose state at 3 p.m. every' day.

Increase in self-esteem.

• I've begun singing lessons and will perform in a coffeehouse soon.

Took a small comedy part in a church play—something I never would have done before.

Decrease in junk around the house.

• Have been reevaluating m y priorities and forming some goals for my life.

People tell me that my skin looks belter and that I look younger.

Following this protocol and answering the questions jwsed has been the moti

vational force to allow me to achieve the weight loss I wanted and to change my life for the better.

A lot of the questions revived memories of positive attitudes I carried with me twenty years ago, when I had little problem making things happen for me.

Over the years. I've lost touch with this reality'. It's nice to have it brought back to me and have me working on things from that standpoint.

I am an avid skier and have taught skiing for more than twenty years, full time and part time. Being on the protocol has helped me have the most reward

ing season of my career. I've been getting an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from my students. 1 had the best year of tips received and best lessons taught ever. I was one of twelve out o f 270 instructors to recene an award for excellence. I've been relatively injury-free this season. The last four seasons I experienced injuries that lessened my abilities on the slope* for weeks at a time.

I have also decided to retake a high-level certification exam, which I failed when I originally took it fourteen years ago. I feel that m y athletic performance has reached the level where I feel comfortable taking it again. I also feel com

fortable with the exam being a learning experience, and if I should fail it again, I won't be waiting as long to retake it, but will continue m y training and retake it at m y earliest convenience.

My level of excitement has increased because of m y level of achievement in weight loss, athletic prowess, and positive overall attitude.

I am still working things out and continuing to detoxify my surroundings.

I am still a work in progress. I've got a good idea of what changes I must continue to make, and am excited about what these changes will bring to me.

— Marc C.

In the six months since beginning the program, I have changed physically, losing twenty pounds and working out four to five days a week. I have incredi

ble energy and am not tired. I sleep less, but the sleep I get is restful.

Mentally, I am more clear-thinking, making decisions regarding m y life and business quicker, as opposed to laboring over them. I have no depression, but a general feeling of grounding and balance. Affirmations work.

Work—love it! I own m y own business, an organic vegan home delivery service. Since being a member of the group, I am more organized—no procras

tination. Our company has tripled its business. The company has become an extension of m y being.

I have much more quality play in m y life, and I choose very carefully who I'd like to play with. My time is important. Most importantly, because work is demanding, I truly enjoy m y "playtime. "As far as relationships go, once again, time is valuable—which made it easy to shed relationships that were toxic and draining. I moved out of a six-and-a-half-year relationship to a studio apart

ment that belongs to meserene, peaceful, and beautiful. I am choosing rela

tionships that are positive.

Although not every day moves gracefully through m y life, each day is growing more enjoyable and fun. This support group has helped change my life to a positive, peaceful state of being. A definite catalyst.

— Liz M.

The reason I decided to join the study is a desire to reach m y potential spiritu

ally, physically, and emotionally. To achieve this, I must empower myself. The

commitment to the program without compromise is a powerful statement. It says that I am making m y own choices in m y life, and that these choices are positive and affect every aspect. I am in control.

In the past two years, I have been divorced, lost m y job, and lost m y apart

ment. The reason that this happened is that I allowed other people to make my decisions for me. Basically, I didn't think enough of myself to express my wants, desires, needs, likes and dislikes, and all the other good stuff that comes along with being a person.

I feel that I have come a long way in the past three months, primarily because of the program. Being in control of m y decision of what I will and will not put in my body is empowering. I believe the body is sacred and should be

treated as such. It is the temple in which we live.

Physically I do feel more energetic than I did before. Lack of energy was a
