6.2 Reflection on the thesis process

My Master’s programme Crisis and Security Management has provided a very good background for this thesis research and has made me very enthusiastic for the field of international security. I enjoyed doing the literature study underpinning this thesis, and as I have been doing an internship in the field of intelligence, everything seemed to come together.

The hardest part of writing a thesis to me has been in structuring the work itself. I have learned you have to formulate as succinctly and concise as possible. Although we have

written many essays prior to the thesis, this proved to be a real challenge. Also, planning the writing process turned out very important and is something to be reckoned with. As to methodology I used (the qualitative content analysis), of course, I would have preferred to conduct the interviews myself, as I have done during my internship at the NLDA.
