RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR
THE FULL-TIME DAY MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAM

The students desiring to work toward a Master's degree must successfully complete the requirements outlined below.
I. ADMISSION: The student must
I. submit an application (Form 80) accompanied by an application fee by April 15th for admission to the fall semester or by November 15th for the spring semester.
2. present evidence of having been graduated with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. The official
transcript must show:
(a) a cumulative index of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale for the whole program, or a 2.8 on the same scale for its final two years.
Student teaching credit is not included in computing QPA.
(b) a minimum of 45 semester hours in liberal arts subjects.
These must be distributed as specified under the particular degree program.
3. present evidence for successful completion of any special require-ments specified under the particular program.
4. submit results of the GRE Aptitude test, or the Miller Analogies test, or whichever tests are required in the specific degree program. They must be no more than five years old.
5. arrange to present two letters of reference (Form 80-A) from (a) a graduate or undergraduate professor in the student's field
of concentration.
(b) the student's most recent professional employer, or research supervisor, or professor in student's field if not employed.
6. have a satisfactory interview with the Dean of Graduate Studies and the Department Head of the area in which he will be working.
This is arranged by the Office of Graduate Studies after an evaluation of the student's credentials.
The student is notified by mail of his acceptance or rejection in the degree progr:im.
II. MEDICAL EXAMINATION: The student is sent medical forms (Form 80-8) along with !he application form. He must submit a personal medicai history and a physician's report with his application.
Candidatc:s for teaching programs must also submit results of a recent

Tuberculin test before being allowed to participate in classroom experience. Part III of the medical form must be submitted before the end of the first semester of work.
111. CONFERENCE WITH bEPARTMENT HEAD: The student must, after receiving the letter of acceptance and prior to registration, make .an appointment with the Department Head of his area of
concentration. The Department Head in the student's area of concentration or his designee will act as the student's advisor in the program. He will outline the courses to be taken and will give the student a course approval card (Form 17) bearing his signature. This will pem1it the student to make proper arrangements for courses at registration time.
IV. REGISTRATION: The registn\tion period is announced by the Registrar of the college. The student should secure a registration bulletin from that office prior to meeting with the Department Head.
Students must be sure that fees for the semester have been paid to the Business Office of the college prior to registration and bring their receipt with them to the registration
V. COMPREHENSIVE EXAMINATION: After successfully com-pleting the required course work the student, with the approval of the advisor, submits an application (Form 338) for the comprehensive examination. This must be made by March I st for students planning to graduate in June and May 1st for students planning to graduate in August. THE COLLEGE CANNOT ASSURE THAT STUDENTS WHO FAIL TO MEET THE DEADLINE INDICATED ABOVE WILL BE ABLE TO BE PROCESSED FOR GRADUATION.
VI. GRADUATION: A student planning to graduate either in June or August must complete a commencement application (Form 352) and submit it to the Office of Graduate Studies by March 1st. Upon review of his application the student will be asked to complete a cap and gown order (Form 362) for June graduation only, and will be kept informed regarding the arrangements for graduation. All graduates must be present for graduation unless excused by the Dean of Graduate Studies. THE COLLEGE DOES NOT ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR GRADUATION OF STUDENTS IF APPLICATIONS ARE NOT RECEI~ED BY THE DEADLINE DATE INDICATED.
GENERAL RU LES
A. The quantitative credit requirement for the degree shall be at least nine courses. Students with deficiencies in their undergraduate programs may be required to take more than this minimum requirement.

Graduate students in this program are required to maintain an average of "B" for the degree work. Computation of the student's academic average is made al the end of each semester. The Dean of Graduate Studies may request the student to withdraw during the year if in his judgement the student's performance warrants such a request.
C. All of the requirements for the degree must be completed with.in a period of six years. Students failing to complete the degree program in the prescribed period will be withdrawn from degree status.
D.
Transfer credits will be limited to six semester hours in the Master's Degree program. Courses transferred must be approved by the Department Head on Form 251 which is available in the Office of Graduate Studies.E. Graduate courses taken before the student has applied for admission to the program may or may not apply toward the program. Such courses, whether taken at this college, or elsewhere, will be accepted at the discretion of the Department Head and the Dean of Graduate Studies with approved limitations.
F. The minimum load for full-time study is three courses per semester.
G. All courses taken in the academic discipline must be upper division courses as determined by departments.
H. The Comprehensive Examination must be passed by all candidates for the Master's Degree. It is taken near the end of the program after all the required courses have been completed.
