Classroom Participation (online and on ground):

Learning takes place through sharing of ideas with colleagues, so attendance at every class is expected. Class participation grades will be based on discussion regarding critical issues and questions raised by required readings and critique of select nursing research studies.

Assignments:

Specific guidelines for each assignment will be provided. Papers are to be written in A.P.A.

format and should reflect critical analysis and synthesis of pertinent literature on the topic.

Papers should also exhibit individual creativity and innovation.

Data Analysis for the course:

To meet the data analysis for quantitative study objective of this course, students are encouraged to purchase SPSS (PASW) 16.0 (or higher) Grad Pack available online or through the bookstore.

Students are urged to use the tutorial program on the software, or complete the SPSS tutorial (from another university) at the following or a similar website:

Section II of the Student Code of Conduct addresses the University's policy on academic honesty, including provisions regarding plagiarism and cheating, unauthorized access to

University materials, misrepresentation/falsification of University records or academic work, malicious removal, retention, or destruction of library materials,

malicious/intentional misuse of computer facilities and/or services, and misuse of student identification cards. Incidents of alleged academic misconduct will be handled through the established procedures of the University Judiciary Program, which includes either an

"informal" resolution by a faculty member, resulting in grade adjustment, or a formal

85

hearing procedure, which may subject a student to the Code of Conduct's minimum one semester suspension requirement.

• Preparation for class and active participating in class discussion are expectations. The syllabus may change. Students are responsible for changes in the course and other announcements in class and by e-mail.

• Students who find that they cannot continue in the university for the entire semester because of illness or other reason should complete an official withdrawal form. Forms may be obtained from the Office of the Registrar. Students who officially withdraw from the university with the approval of the Dean will be assigned grades of "W". This grade will not affect the overall scholastic average.

• Students may, by means of the same withdrawal form, and with the approval of the Dean, withdraw from individual courses while retaining other courses on their schedules. See University Course Schedule for the last day to withdraw without academic penalty. Failure to withdraw by the appropriate date will mean that the student has elected to receive the fmal grades earned in the course. The only exceptions to these withdrawal regulations will be for those instances that involve unusual and fully documented circumstances.
