TDC Introduction

The ELDP Technical Development Curriculum (TDC) is an important part of the Engineering Leadership Development Program (ELDP). An ELDP participant has the opportunity to attend three TDC

Conferences during his/her time in the ELDP. The three ELDP TDCs provide a high-quality training experience, resulting in the award of 12 graduate level Systems Engineering credits through Stevens Institute of Technology. Some or all graduate credits may be transferred to local partner universities such as Cornell, Drexel, St. Thomas, Columbia, and others for various Masters Programs. The complete list of universities and transfer policies are maintained at the TDC Unity Site.

The first year of the ELDP Program is taken by the TDC courses and the Mock Proposal. The tentative schedule of the TDCs will follow Figure 1 below.

For each TDC, the conference is always the first week of class. The Mock Proposal will not involve any travel.

TDC Homework

All three TDC curriculums require a full semester workload, per the requirements of obtaining 3

graduate level credits through Stevens University. The Baltimore TDC2 conference is only the beginning of TDC 2. The conference will be followed up with a special project (SHIELD) (plan for 15 hours per week on your own time) for the Winter Semester. There will be no weeks off / holidays during the winter semester so please plan accordingly.

The SHIELD project information will be provided in December. However, no assignments or turn-in of work will be required until the TDC 2 conference.

The final SHIELD demo will occur at TDC 3 in Syracuse. Note that no break will occur between TDC 2 and TDC 3. Instead, a one week break will occur halfway into TDC 3 between projects: MAY 10 – 14, 2010.

Please plan vacations accordingly.

Stevens Institute of Technology Registration

All ELDP participants are required to enroll in Stevens, in order to obtain twelve graduate level Systems Engineering credits and per our Stevens-Lockheed partnership agreement. You must enroll with Stevens even if you do not believe you will need to transfer these credits for your particular Masters Degree pursuit.

These credits may be transferred to local partner Universities, starting the Fall 2010 semester of your ELDP Program. You may also choose to obtain your Masters Degree through the Stevens where all 12 credits will be accepted into any of their engineering Masters Programs.

(6)

TDC 2 (2010) Conference Information Page 1 of 10

10-15 January 2010 Material Date: 13 October 2009

You should NOT enroll in any additional university courses the entire first year (September 2009 – August 2010) of the ELDP Program, due to the anticipated workload in your first year. Exceptions to this must be approved by your manager.

Stevens will bill tuition and fees at the end of each TDC. Prior to the start of each TDC, you should request pre-paid tuition reimbursement so that funds will be available prior to receipt of the bill. Your manager can assist with any questions on the tuition reimbursement process.

To enroll in Stevens, all participants must use the Stevens ELDP TDC Portal located at

http://www.stevens.edu/lmco. Step by step enrollment instructions are provided on that website, and any Stevens Registration questions may be directed to Stephanie Robinson, ELDP TDC registrar for Stevens.
