Radiologic Technology Program Application Process
Deadline – June 1
stApplicants must complete a Radiologic Technology Program Application. The form should be completed with care as this application represents you to the Radiologic Technology Program Faculty. Prior applications will not be included in your current file.
The Radiologic Technology Program application must be on file and complete in the office of Admissions and Records by June 1st to be considered for admission to the Radiologic Technology
Program for the Fall semester.
For the Radiology Technology Program Application file to be complete, the applicant must do the following:
1. Admission Application – If not currently enrolled, complete an Application for Admissions to Clovis Community College and return it to the Office of Admissions and Records by June 1st Your Radiology Technology Program application will not be processed if you do not have a current application for Admission on file.
2. Radiology Technology Program Application – Complete all Sections of the Radiology Technology Program Application form, including transcript information.
3. Transcripts – Official copies of all transcripts as required by the office of admissions. 4. Grade Point Average – Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point
average (GPA) of 2.5 from the required prerequisite courses.
5. BIOL 211 (Human Anatomy and Physiology I), BIOL 212 (Human Anatomy and Physiology II), MATH 107 (Intermediate Algebra), and NURS 105 (Medical
Terminology) must have been completed within five years from semester of application. 6. Program information module -- All students applying for admission to the Radiologic
Technology Program must complete the CCC Radiologic Technology Program module prior to or during the semester they apply and turn in the completed acknowledgement form with the application. This module is located on the clovis.edu webpage under the “programs of study” tab.
7. Incomplete prerequisite courses -- If a student is currently enrolled in any prerequisite courses they must have completed that course by the end of the summer semester prior to admission into the program. These courses must be noted as in progress with the
anticipated completion date on the degree plan or application.
Applicants for the Radiologic Technology Program will be selected based on the cumulative grade point average of the related prerequisite courses only.
including those who have filed and are following degree plan requirements of an earlier catalog. Some policies and requirements may be subject to change based on program requirements. Radiology Technology Program Application files, which do not contain all of the requirements listed above by the June 1st deadline are incomplete and will not be reviewed by the Radiology
Program Director.
NOTICE
All of the Health Science Programs at Clovis Community College require criminal background checks and drug screenings prior to admittance into the clinical setting. Failure to pass one or both could result in dismissal from the program. Applicants with felony convictions and misdemeanors may not be allowed in the clinical sites or allowed to sit for the National or State exams in Radiology.
PREVIOUS FELONY CONVICTIONS
After graduation students are considered candidates, and may apply to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) National Certification Board Examination. Candidates must comply with the “Rules of Ethics” contained in the American Registry’s “Standards of Ethics.” A conviction of or plea of guilty to or a plea of NoLo contendere to a crime which is either a felony or is a misdemeanor must be investigated by the ARRT in order to determine eligibility.
Applicants who have been convicted of, or plead guilty to or plead NoLo contendere to a crime must contact the Program Director of Radiologic Sciences for additional information regarding this matter.
TECHNICAL STANDARDS FOR ACCEPTANCE
To participate in the clinical education portion of the program, the applicant must possess additional non-academic skills. These technical standards are consistent with the duties of the entry level radiographer in a professional position. The applicant must be able to:
• Lift and transfer patients to and from the imaging table, stretcher, bed and or wheel chair.
• Move, adjust, and manipulate equipment to perform imaging procedures. • Communicate effectively with personnel in an oral or written format, and in turn
also follow written and verbal directions
• Use proper discretion and judgment in dealing with patients and others. • Think clearly and rationally. Students cannot be in clinical practice while under
influence of prescribed medications which could affect decision making and ultimately jeopardize good patient care.
