Report of Activities
This has been a tremendous year for the Emory Student Nurses Association (ESNA). We began the year with a huge Welcome Back Shin-dig for our nursing students and followed up with winning 11 of 14 awards and scholarships from the Georgia Association of Nursing Students Convention including Chapter of the Year and Member of the Year. We have hosted multiple blood drives, co-sponsored Wonderful Wednesdays, organized community service events for the Ronald McDonald House, MEDSHARE, and the Zone at Scottish Rite. We helped coordinate the Interdisciplinary Mixer that brought 400 students from nine undergraduate and graduate programs for a night in Tull Plaza, subsequently helping our members connect with students from disciplines across campus. One of our board members coordinated the GA Nursing Students team for the Parkinson’s Foundation “Moving Day Walk” and organized lunch and learns for nursing schools in the Atlanta area, featuring persons living with Parkinson’s
Nurses Association Convention in Nashville, TN, where ESNA’s resolution was presented to the House of Delegates. Throughout the year we have hosted lunch and learns covering topics from forensic nursing to pediatric oncology and the nurse’s role in recognizing human trafficking. The role of a nurse demands commitment and compassion—qualities our organization demonstrates both here at Emory and in our communities!
