Unit Description: Through participation in selected modified invasion games developed from the sport of Oztag, students apply strategies and tactics for the purpose of improving the quality of performance and the achievement of set goals. Students will also develop competencies in the basic principles of offensive and defensive ideologies apparent throughout invasion games.

Using Group work, Peer Assessment, Self-Assessment and Movement Tasks, students will draw from the knowledge and experience of the program to create and develop their own set of rules and strageties; within a modified version of Rugby League.
Opportunity to experiment with different formations, rules, tactics and variety within a familier sport will give elements of growth and evolution of the students

Tagging:
Teacher to explain main points when tagging using a walk through demonstration with a student.
This motion should be broken down into basic parts. - 2 hands
- Lean body towards the tags and place body close to the person with the ball-not directly in front.
- Keep your eye on the person and their tags, not their feet
Running with the ball:
Teacher to explain main points when running with the ball and how to move and turn without obstructing your tags.
- Do not use the ball/hands to push away or obstruct the defender - Arms and the ball must stay clear of your tags when a defender is within tagging distance
- You must not touch your tags at any time when you have the ball
Warm up: Bulrush
Two students are placed in the marked zone on the field, while the rest of students start at the base line.
The aim of the players in the zone is to tag other students by moving around in the designated zone.
The aim for the other students is to progress to the other base line without being tagged.
Once a student is tagged, they remain in that zone and help to tag other students.
Progression: (optional)
Taggers are to remain on a horizontal line across the designated zone. They must not leave this line to tag other players.
This progression enforces body positioning and moving sideways

Activity: 5V5
- Students are to split into groups of 5 players
- 2 teams will compete against each other in each of the 3 marked zones.
- 1 team from each grid rotates around the activity after each small-sided game.
- Teams will referee themselves and must be fair
Game 1: 5 footballs
- 1 team is to be the attacking team, and 1 the defending. - On the whistle the attacking team and defending team will
enter the grid at opposite ends and the defending team will try to stop they attacking players from scoring by removing an attacking players tag.
- Attacking players score by placing the ball on the ground across the try line without having one of their tags removed.
Game 2: Small Sided Oztag
- Students are to participate in a game of small-sided Oztag in the same 5 person groups.
- Oztag rules apply
- 3 chances to score only (3 tags)
- NO KICKING is the variable in this activity.
- After 5 mins the groups rotate to the final rotation.
- At this point the team can begin to incorporate the GRUBBER kick.

Warm up: Foxes and hares
- Students are to find a partner and line up on the marked line back to back
- One line of students are given the name foxes and the other

- On the whistle the teacher will call out a name and that name must fun to their safe zone approx. 15 meters away.
- The team that doesn’t get called out must turn and chase the other player and tag them before the line.
Activity: Small Sided Oztag End Ball
- One person in the End Zone with no opposing defender.
- 3 teams, 2 teams participating while third team adopting SEPEP roles and analysing game-play to develop tactics
- Every ‘TRY’ teams rotate - Unlimited chances to score
- Possession forfeited on any error (ball knocked down by opposition or out of play)

Warm up: tagging drill
Students are to, with the ball, try to get through the defender(s) in the given zone.

- Defensive side needs to retreat 5 metres

- Offensive team can only pass the ball backwards and must remain behind the kicker.

Suggested Progression Rules
- Partner Touch: players nominate a partner in the opposing team. Each players ‘partner’ is the only person who can stop the attacking players progression. NB: Consider matching abilities
- Drop-off Touch: in any set of 6, the first 4 defenders to make a touch are out of play for the remaining of the set.
Activity: Creating and Defining Games
- In small groups, students will utilise their knowledge to create their own activity, which aims to develop one or more of the skills
necessary in a game of oztag. Within these groups, students will trial their activity/game and progress or alter any aspect of the game they feel needs to be refined.
Equipment available: footballs, markers, and hoops.
- Each group will present their game to the class. In this presentation they must describe their game/activity, give a demonstration and describe which skill the activity aims to develop.
(Observational assessment through quality of responses) - Each group may be able to have a quick run through of the activity/game if time is not a restriction.
Warm up: Tail Tag
Students move around the grid and aim to take other students tags.
Once a tag has been removed, it is placed on the belt of the student who made the tag.
The student who has the most tags at the end of the game wins.
Activity: Full sided Oztag
- Students are split into 3 even teams of 8-10 students (depending on numbers)
- 2 teams play for a total or 5 mins and after these 5 mins, 1 team will
