About Us

Since 1996, organisations across New Zealand have turned to Catalyst Risk Management for their Occupational Health, Wellness or Injury Management services. With years of industry expertise, we work with organisations to develop tailored Occupational Health, Wellness and Injury management programmes that focus on improving health and productivity, lowering the cost of workplace absences and reducing their overall occurrence.

With a team of Occupational Health specialists, case managers and industry experts, Catalyst has a proven track record of delivering programmes across a range of industries.

Range of Services

Catalyst provides a comprehensive portfolio of services across Third Party Administration, Injury and Rehabilitation Management, Claims Management, Workplace Absences and Occupational Health and Wellness services.

1. Injury Management

At Catalyst we understand that people are an organisation’s greatest asset. When a valued employee is injured at work employers want to assist them back to health and back to life as quickly as possible whilst also maintaining productivity in the workplace.

Catalyst provides organisations with third party administration of claims and case management services, including risk assessments, claim registration, claims management, dispute management, case law, reporting and audit assistance. Our case management team is well positioned to deliver a high level of service. Catalyst’s highly skilled team has diverse technical skills and professional qualifications in fields across medical, health and safety, nursing, psychology, psychotherapy, sociology, teaching, science and business degrees and case management and social work diplomas.

Catalyst prides itself on the claims outcomes we have achieved for our clients.

2. Workplace Health Services

Catalyst provides employers with a “one-stop shop” for workplace health and wellness.

Catalyst’s Workplace Health Services are designed to assist employees achieve better health outcomes. The services are offered under Catalyst’s ‘WorkCare’ brand. These services are:  Pre-employment health risk screening - including drug and alcohol and ACC injury history  Annual health monitoring – lung function, vision, hearing, hip/waist ratio and skin tests  Health checks – blood pressure, diabetes, body mass index and cholesterol testing.  Skin checks

 Workstation and worksite assessments, task analysis and return to work programme  Recommendations of equipment purchasing such as desks and chairs.

 Personalised training packages such as manual handling/workstation assessor training and noise management.

 Early intervention services  Absence management

 Drug and alcohol programmes – including strategy and implementation of policy  Employee wellness programmes

 Exit medicals.

A. Pre-employment medicals include:

 ACC (injury) history  Drug testing

 Hearing / vision – baseline measurement should any claim arise in the future for occupational hearing loss

 Height / weight  Flexibility

 Essential functions form

 Musculoskeletal assessment - – to identify any current injuries or future risk

 Cardiovascular assessment – to identify current abnormalities that may prevent participation in some occupational tasks and identify any future risk. Blood pressure reading / pulse.  Lung function - this can be customized for occupations and to the environment the

employee will be situated in.

B. Mandatory / Compliance Health Monitoring includes:

 Hearing (annual)

 Lung function – Spirometry  Vision screening – Keystone  CVD – Cardiovascular assessment

 Blood pressure – Risk-based by demographics of clients  Workstation assessments

 VDU

 Ergonomics

C. Health Checks, Wellbeing and Nutrition include:

D. Task and Process Analysis includes:

E. Absence Management / JobCare includes:

 Non-legislative case management (DPI – discomfort, pain and injury, illness, declined claim)  Medical referrals

3. Value Added Services

Catalyst is also able to offer the following value-added Services.

i. E-Learning

Through its strategic partnership with an industry leading e-learning provider Catalyst is able to offer a suite of free on-line learning modules as well as provide employers with access to other industry leading online learning modules suited to your organisation’s needs.

ii. NZWell@Work

Having a fit and healthy workforce can contribute to reduced absenteeism, better employee retention and increased productivity. NZWell@Work, is a web-based product, which makes it easy to develop and implement a wellness program for employers. Whether just starting out or have had a program in place for some time, this product can help. It provides:

 Practical tools to tailor a program for your organisation’s needs;

 Survey capability that enables organisations to conduct regular staff surveys and provides valuable company level overview of workforce health and wellbeing;  A centralised, easy to search source of wellness information;

 Resources and advice to encourage employees to be more physically active and improve their nutrition; and

 Tips and ideas on how to keep your workplace wellness program fresh.

iii. Data diagnostics

Catalyst provides a data diagnostic service to ensure all line management understand workplace injury data, identify opportunities to improve safety and injury management systems and then strategise on solutions to remedy any negative performance trends.

iv. Consensus Based Disability Management audit (CBDMA)

CBDMA is an international best practice assessment tool which assesses employer’s injury management policies, procedures and practises. The tool focuses on injury management policy and workplace resources, injury prevention, early intervention and timely return to work processes. It is a comprehensive tool that helps identify an employer’s current position and provides a thorough gap analysis and needs identification. This tool also provides employers with international.
