Fast in, fast out: with an ideal location and multimodal connections, the modern deep water terminal of Cuxport offers first class facilities for handling your cargoes rapidly and smoothly. And what is more, there are no limits to Cuxport‘s versatility as a multifunctional terminal – from A for automobile to W for wind power plants, there is hardly any transport requirement for which we cannot offer a suitable logistic solution.

Geographical position

With its ideal location right at the Elbe Estuary, near the Kiel Canal and not far from the Weser and Jade Estuary, Cuxport is the optimal transhipment centre for all kinds of consignments. As a modern seaport terminal set up only in 1997, Cuxport takes the needs of many international transport routes into account. This is why a wide range of scheduled services between Great Britain, Russia, Scandinavia, Finland, Spain, the Baltic states and Iceland call at Cuxport on a regular basis.

Hinterland connections

From Cuxport you can reach the efficient European road and rail network in the shortest possible time. The nearby A27 motorway link gives you direct access to the German and Central European hinterland, while the terminal rail head connects you to the biggest European marshalling yard Hamburg-Maschen.

Cuxport is also directly connected to the European network of inland waterways via the river Elbe. The Cuxhaven-Nordholz airport acts as a hub for sea to air cargo transports and as service base for helicopter flights to the North Sea windparks.

24/7 service

Cuxport offers customised warehousing and logistic solutions as well. Right round the clock, and every day of the week, efficient cargo handling facilities are at your disposal. Anything from wheeled cargo to containers, from forest products to steel products and from project cargoes to automobile logistics – here everything goes. With six berths, a water depth of up to 15.8 metres and versa-tile warehousing facilities, Cuxport is ideally equipped to handle any requirements you may have – thanks to our modern and power-ful equipment and the comprehensive logistics expertise of our employees.

Ownership

The share holders of Cuxport GmbH are Rhenus AG & Co. KG (www.rhenus.com) in Holzwickede near Dortmund, with a 74.9 percent share, and HHLA Container Terminals Gesellschaft mbH (www.hhla.de) in Hamburg with the remaining 25.1 percent.

For anything on wheels: Cuxport shows the way

MOBILE

Rolling, rolling, rolling…: as a specialist for short sea transport in the North Sea and the Baltic, Cuxport serves a network of regular RoRo services – for example between the European continent, surrounding the Baltic sea, Spain and Great Britain. In the automotive transport sector Cuxport also occupies a pole position. We offer the complete range of logistics services for new and used vehicles.

Roll-on/roll-off

Cuxport offers first class and highly efficient facilities for forwarding your goods. The tran-shipment of wheeled cargo takes place at three RoRo berths with a water depth of up to 13.5 metres, and with convenient truck access for fast turnaround times of vessels and rolling cargo. Three automatic ramps and a quarter ramp, which can take weights of up to 250 - 350 tons, ensure that your goods can be rapidly handled without depending on the tide and without locks.

We continuously improve our high service level for the handling of RoRo cargoes by investing in modern cargo handling equip-ment and IT-based manageequip-ment system. This also includes ongoing process improve-ments and the deployment of state of the art IT systems for real-time control and documen-tation of all cargo movements. All this makes Cuxport an extremely efficient and highly attractive port of call for short and deep sea lines.

Tip:

Rolltrailers can be used for loads of up to 100 tons, offering a rapid and cost-effective transport solution.

Automobile logistics

In the import/export business, Cuxport offers ideal stock management facilities at the interface with the sea transport routes. Cuxport optimises the transhipment of motor vehicles with the help of the most up-to-date terminal logistics, and has grown in recent years to become one of the most

important European distribution centres for the automotive industry. This is partly due to its geographical location and favourable transport connections, but even more to its logistic concepts designed to meet the specific needs of our individual customers. As they arrive, vehicles are registered by online scanner, and sent on to the next port of call in accordance with the customer‘s requirements. All processes are IT-supported, and allow EDI interfaces to customers’ IT-systems, if desired. This provides real time stock information, and puts you in the best possible position for managing your inventory.

Terminal management for passenger cars

As well as providing classic transhipment and warehousing activities, Cuxport offers a whole range of other value added services, e.g. load securing and lashing onboard of vessels, trucks and rail wagon, stowage on sea-going vessels, etc. – all to a constantly high level of quality. At the customer‘s request we can offer numerous services in relation to the vehicle (including PDI) from a single source. Under our maintenance pro-grammes, for example, we check the tyre pressure and battery power, wash the vehicle while in storage, remove transport contamina-tion and carry out protective undercoating. With its flexible and experienced team of specialists, its wide range of services certified to DIN EN and ISO standards and its multimodal connections to the European hin-terland, Cuxport is your ideal partner for the import and export of all kinds of vehicles.

Cuxport offers:

Strong expertise in car handling Widestorage facilities

Car loading in containers Close relations to manufacturers

Come what may: we can handle anything

FLEXIBLE

Every type of cargo needs to be treated in a different way – and Cuxport offers the ideal logistic solution for all the varieties. With the help of special equipment and many years of experience, we handle and store both container shipments and break bulk forest and steel products. We continuously undertake major investments to meet the steadily growing requirements for the professional handling of all cargo types.

Containers

With a Panmax container gantry crane and a harbour crane with a capacity of 100 tons, Cuxport is well equipped to manage the rapid transhipment of containers in the shortsea trade. Modern equipment, like container reach stackers, serves to speed up transit times in intermodal transport still further, making the multifunctional terminal a major node for Combined Trans-port. But of course, as a neutral service provider offering everything from container packing services to reefer cooling facilities, we can also provide all the classic options

for container transhipment, and can place around 260,000 m² of flood-protected storage space at our customers‘ disposal. We also undertake stripping and stuffing of containers and handle related documen-tation. Here again Cuxport stands for high standards of quality, safety and security. As yet another illustration of the excellent hinterland connections, we can set up a regular container shuttle connection by inland waterway for your shipments between Cuxport and the Hamburg terminals.

Forest products

Cuxport is ideally equipped for the handling and storage of moisture-sensitive forest products of all types, sizes and weights: We provide 10,000 m² of shed space, 3,000 m² of which can be temperature-controlled. Another 5,500 m² offer weather-protected transhipment of your goods from/to partially roofed railtracks. And the required equipment is available too – with special forklifts capable to handle forest products, including brackets for paper rolls for example, ensuring that your goods will be handled with due care. Cuxport specialises in all types of transport for forest and timber products, such as containers, swap bodies or rolltrailers, as well as in bulk. We offer logistic services for round timber and sawn timber, timber-based boards and industrial timber residues by ship, rail or road. This includes the organisation of intermodal transports to the hinterland and sea transport, as well as the stuffing and stripping, order picking and quantitative and qualitative checking of cargo and packages.

Supplementary services, like the cutting to size of paper rolls, packaging and repacka-ging after transport damages, complete our services. As a result, Cuxport is a much sought after goods handling centre for paper, laminates and similarly sensitive products.

Steel products

Cuxport has the facilities to handle and store all kinds of iron and steel products in the most professional way. With years of accumu-lated experience we have acquired an excel-lent reputation for our services in this area. This is also due to the deployment of highly specialised cargo handling equipment. Forklifts capable of handling loads of up to 32 tons, fitted with forks up to 2.7 metres length or with coil pins for handling coils that are equally heavy, provide a basis for the careful handling of such products. Besides all necessary cargo handling equipment, we also operate a heavy load berth, a container gantry crane, a mobile harbour crane (capable of taking loads of up to 100 tons), and suitable spreaders and handling equipment for all kinds of goods, thus guaranteeing that the highest professional standards will be main-tained. To ensure that goods are appropriately stored, we make use of covered warehouses, some of them heated, as well as offering open air storage in the wide areas of the terminal. The successful partnership between Deutsche Bahn [German Rail], DFDS Seaways and Cuxport that operates under the name of RailRoCargo has been in existence for over 25 years now. This system offers door to door transports to the continent to/from Great Britain and Ireland.

Project cargoes and heavy loads

Project cargoes and heavy loads are in safe hands with us: with a terminal site that has been constructed completely suitable for the handling of heavy goods, its powerful equip-ment and experienced personnel, Cuxport is the number one choice for plant manufac-turers and heavy load logistics experts. Our mobile harbour crane – with a capacity of 100 tons – can be used anywhere on the terminal site, and we have other mobile and floating cranes including a portal crane with a capacity of up to approx 600 tons available as well, any time they are needed. With our RoRo ramps, which can take a load of up to 250 in some case even up to 350 tons, Cuxport is equally well equipped to meet the needs of special low bed heavy load trailers moving project cargo and heavy loads.

The OffshoreBase Cuxhaven

Cuxport also provides services within the OffshoreBase Cuxhaven. The latter combines the functions of a production site, a support point and handling facility for offshore wind energy systems. Cuxport is extending its faci-lities accordingly in order to meet the needs of the future. The heavy load berth has been specifically designed to cope with extreme stresses from offshore foundation sections or wind turbine. A new berth No.4 including adjacent hinterland area is planned to be constructed for ships of up to 270 metres in length expected to become optional by 2014.

Heavy load berth

The rising demand for installation facilities where large modules can be assembled is catered for by our heavy load platform directly situated at berth No. 4. On an area of around 1,600 m², modules weighing up to approx. 1,500 tons can be assembled and loaded directly at a deep water berth. The sustainable load comes to 90 tons per m².

If you have big things in mind, Cuxport is just the place for you. Our terminal is ideally equipped to meet the challenges of heavyweight loads. With our modern equipment, we make the handling of heavy goods and project cargoes as easy as pie. Cuxport is also getting ready to support the energy needs of the futu-re. The commencement of an ambitious extension project, together with the new heavy load platform for the transhipment of wind power plants, already today sends a fresh wind blowing through our terminals.

In years to come as well, Cuxport will continue to expand its resources and its facilities. The heavy load berth has made a start with a view to meeting the requirements of the offshore wind power industry and other heavy project cargoes. From 2014 onwards a fourth berth on the Terminal 1 Europakai will offer additional berth length of 290 metres and an adjacent 85,000 m² for the handling and storage of cargo. But we don’t stop here! Plans for further berths at the Terminal 1 Europakai are already in the pipeline, so that we can keep up with the steadily growing cargo handling re-quirements of the market.
