Sept 15, Jan. 15(often full after this deadline) Mar 15, and June 15 each year
Files will be review according to the given Allied Health admissions procedure.
It is highly recommended that students complete files by Sept. 15th and Jan. 15th deadlines due to the highly
competitive nature of this program.
Students will receive either an acceptance, denial or pending letter regarding their status at the end of each cycle.
It is encouraged that students contact the health
admissions specialist prior to the deadline to check their file and make sure it is complete.
This process will continue until the program
fills
Students will receive a letter of either
acceptance or non acceptance.
If non acceptance it should explain your
status for the following year.
With current number of applications the
DMS programs fills prior to the March

Make sure the content and credits are comparable
Credits should be equal to Triton’s class or greater
Can’t be a pass or fail class and must have gotten credit for it

These standards give an idea of skills and cognitive abilities that one should have to be successful in the field of Sonography
Health and Physical Abilities
Students enrolled must meet the following
criteria:
Physical stamina is required for the hard
work involved: standing on one’s feet for a
long period of time, pushing and pulling
equipment, lifting and positioning patients;
continuous scanning may cause strain on
legs, back, shoulder and wrist
This program requires a large time commitment. It is not possible to work a full-time job and be
successful.
Classes are 3-4 days a week (semester 1 and 2) Classes begin as early as 8:30 & end as late as 6 Clinicals are 8.5 hours a day (three day a week)
in semester 3, 4 and 5
Good hand mobility for gripping, and
squeezing like motions, as well as repetitive
hand and wrist motion
Visual Acuity to view detail differentiation
Free of communicable diseases and
infections, as you will be working with sick
patients and constantly being exposed to
communicable diseases and infections.

Technical Aptitude
Ability to conceptualize images in
three-dimensional form
Good hand eye coordination
Ability to hear and distinguish the
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to effectively communicate with patient to
give adequate explanations and instructions
Ability to effectively communicate with other health
care professionals to expedite adequate patient care in acquiring a diagnosis
Ability to effectively communicate with Sonologist
Ability to deal compassionately with patients in the time of stress and crisis
Ability to remain calm and flexible by disruption of routine
Ability to interact with physicians and other medical personnel to relay diagnostic
information
Very close contact with patients in a short period of time Deal with sick patients (not all OBs)
Invasive Procedures becoming the norm
Contrast Agents may eventually lead to sonographers doing injections
Portable exams require movement of the unit
Rooms are dark and looking at a computer screen Dynamically changing and advancing in procedures
Each student goes to a total of two- four sites Completes approx. 1000 clinical hours
Do take in to account location, but chosen by what site has to offer as well as students
learning styles.

DMS Point Count Process
Pre Reqs : Must have these done for application to be evaluated
RHT 101,
AHL 120 (med term), AHL 115 or physics,
BIS 240 (anatomy and physiology I) MAT 085 (algebra and Geometry II)
All science, math and AHL must be within the last five years of the year student is
applying for to qualify for any points.
Must place in college level Algebra (MATH 110)
Additional points done for general education requirement coursework completion
If we have to many with high points, we will look at In district , date of application and other pertinent info that would lead to success.
