If you are using your own router, begin by switching it on and setting it up. Activate your computer’s Airport card and select the name of wireless network you want to ac- cess. Note: If this is a remote network you will need to know its security setting and login requirements.Overview
This section will describe how to set up a WFT EOS Utility Mode / Infrastructure network on an Apple Macintosh computer running OS X 10.5 - 10.6. You must have a current version of EOS Utility installed on your computer hard drive.
EOS Utility Mode allows you to wirelessly control your camera through Canon’s EOS Utility software interface, which provides Live View func- tionality, movie mode, and the ability to wirelessly transfer images from a single camera to a single remote computer.
An infrastructure setup allows you to access any available wireless network through an access point such as a wireless network router. This setup requires a wireless network router to serve as the access point. It assumes that the router has been set up for DHCP with WEP security enabled. You will therefore need the 10 digit WEP key or other password to connect to the router. Do not attempt to change the settings on any computer or network without the explicit permission of the owner or administrator.

Launch EOS Utility.Click the Preferences button at the lower right

On the Preferences window select Register WFT Pairing Software in Login Options.3
Quit EOS Utility. Mac users will see a WFT Pair- ing icon on the top-right menu bar. Windows users will see a similar icon on the task bar at the bottom-right of the screen.Camera/WFT Setup

Turn on your camera with the WFT attached.(The WFT requires its own battery.) Navigate to the Tool menu that contains WFT settings.
Select [WFT Settings].

On the WFT settings screen, select [Connection wizard].6
Under Select wireless network, select the net- work ID that is being distributed by your router (the same one you selected in the initial setup.Select [OK].

Under LAN type, select [Wireless].Select [OK].

Under Select communication method, select [EOSUtility].5
Under Wireless LAN setup method, select [Connect with wizard].Select [OK].

It may take a few seconds for the WFT to con- nect to wireless network. When it does, you will see this screen. Select [Auto setting], then select [OK].7
Under Key Index, select [Key index 1], then select [OK].8
Under Key Format, select whichever option will allow enough space to enter your wireless login ID or WEP key. Options may vary by model of WFT. In this example we have selected Enter 8-63 ASCII characters.9
Under Enter 8-63 ASCII characters, use the Quick Control Dial to enter the wireless login ID/WEP key you need to access the wireless network. Press the Menu button on the camera to select [OK].10
When the Start pairing devices screen appears, select [OK].The screen will change to indicate that the WFT is ready for pairing and waiting for you to launch the pairing software on your computer.

The pairing software will notify you that it has detected an EOS camera available on the network you set up.12
Click the Pairing Software icon. From the drop-down menu that appears, select Se- lect Camera.13
Select a camera from the list that appears, then click Connect.14
Refer to the LCD screen on your camera to confirm that it has connected to your computer. Select [OK].15
Give your settings a Set number to save them for easy retrieval. You can choose any number from 1 - 4. Select [OK].16
EOS Utility will launch. You will have ac- cess to the same features and functions you would if the camera was connected to the computer by a USB cable. The main differ- ence is that a wireless connection has less bandwidth and is more sensitive to disrup- tions in the data flow. To avoid disruptions use JPEG format only. When shooting at high frame rates, reduce the pixel dimen- sions and increase the compression ratio.© 2011 Canon U.S.A., Inc. All Rights Reserved. When you have finished using EOS Utility mode, return to the WFT settings menu to select [Disconnect.] To reconnect your computer to the Internet, restore your previous settings.
How to Disconnect
To reconnect, return to the WFT settings menu to select the mode and WFT account you previously set-up. Because the IP address is dynamically assigned by your service provider, it may change from one session to the next. If it has changed, you will need to re-enter the new IP address.

Overview
This section will describe how to set up an ad hoc WFT EOS Utility Mode network on an Apple Macin- tosh computer running OS X 105 - 10.6. You must have a current version of EOS Utility installed on your computer hard drive.
EOS Utility Mode allows you to wirelessly con- trol your camera through Canon’s EOS Utility soft- ware interface, which provides Live View functional-
ity, movie mode, and the ability to transfer images from a single camera to a single remote computer.
An ad hoc setup allows you to create a simple wireless network with only a WFT and a WiFi- compatible computer. No wireless router or other access point is necessary. Note: This setup pro- vides for a network login name and password but is otherwise unsecured and unencrypted.

Click the Airport icon on your top menu bar.Scroll down and select Create Network... on the resulting drop-down menu.

A. Enter a name in the Name field (for example“AD HOC EOS UTILITY”).
B. Set Channel to Automatic.
C. Check the Require Password box.
D. Enter a 5-character password. Your pass- word must be exactly 5 characters.
E. Click OK.

Click the System Preferences icon on the Applications Dock at the bottom of your screen.4
On the System Preferences window, click the Network icon in the fourth row from the top.5
On the Network window, click the Airport connection, then click Advanced...6
On the drop-down Configure IPv4 menu select “Manually. Directly below that, enter“192.168.1.100” in the IPv4 Address field.
Once the dialog box is configured as shown, click OK, then Apply Now, then Quit. You can

Under IP address setting, select [Manual Setting]. Select [OK].12
Enter an IP address for the WFT unit. The first six digits should be “192.168.” Either one of the last two must be different from the ones you assigned to the computer. (Write this number down--you will need it later.) Select [OK].13
Under Gateway, leave the gateway set to [Disable]. Select [OK].14
