Morrow County Hospital is committed to offering informative health-related programs and services to our community.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

CPR Family & Friends – teaches basic life-saving skills of CPR. Participants will receive a course completion certificate. (Course Fee – $10/Book – at cost per certification level) (Students: Course Fee – $5)

Heartsaver CPR For Students For Schools – teaches life-saving skills of CPR. Participants will receive a course completion card. (Course Fee – $5/Book – at cost per certification level)

Roadshow

Hospital personnel are available to visit schools and present information about healthcare careers and health-related topics while demonstrating high-tech equipment. 2015 Collection Sites

“MCH Health Awareness” Blood Profiles

No appointment necessary! • 6-9:30 a.m. Morrow County Hospital’s Lower Level* Eligibility: Anyone age 18 and over

Morrow County Hospital’s Laboratory will offer $25 “MCH Health Awareness” blood profiles, which include a battery of 25 tests – cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL, LDL, VLDL, glucose, BUN (blood urea nitrogen), creatinine, sodium, potassium, chloride, carbon dioxide, AST, ALT, total bilirubin, total protein, albumin, calcium, alkaline phosphatase, white blood count, red blood count, platelet count, hemoglobin/ hematocrit, mean cell volume and mean cell hemoglobin concentration.

Remember –

An 8 to 10-hour fast is necessary for accurate results – no eating. Drink moderate amounts of water.

Take your medications with moderate amounts of water.

For an additional charge, the following tests will also be offered:

$25 TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone)

$25 Hemoglobin A1C (primarily for all diabetics)

Absolutely…No physicians’ orders for additional tests will be accepted at these screenings. These $25 blood profiles will only be available at Morrow County Hospital! Only cash or checks made payable to Morrow County Hospital will be accepted. No DEBIT or CREDIT CARDS.

Diabetes Support Group

Registration Required • Free Program Minimum Class Size: 10 participants A Support Group is important and helpful to people with diabetes. A Support Group provides a venue to meet others who share similar concerns and experiences. By shar-ing their experiences, group members can feel part of a community and gain a greater sense of value and power from this feeling of belonging. Each group meeting will focus on another aspect of the disease, featuring guest speakers. This is a FREE MCH Outreach program.

Tobacco Cessation

This program will leave the participant with the tools to work toward becoming tobacco free. This is a FREE Outreach program.

Pediatric Advanced Life

Support (PALS)

Community Registration Fees:

This class is for healthcare professionals who respond to emergencies in infants and chil-dren. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that uses a series of simulated pedi-atric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediat-ric assessment, basic life support, PALS treat-ment algorithms, effective resuscitation and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. Community members wishing to register for a PALS certification class are required to pre-pay their registra-tion fee (non-refundable) seven days prior to the class date, or their name will be removed from the class roster.

Group Diabetes Classes are part of our Three-Step Diabetes Self-Management Educational program. You must have a physician referral and have met with the Diabetes Educator prior to attending group classes. Each class night a different aspect of the diabetes disease process will be discussed. For more information please call – (419) 949.3025. You must attend all four classes to complete this course.

Minimum Class Size: 6 participants This American Heart Association First Aid Class will teach participants (anyone over the age of 14 years) to identify medical emer-gencies and how to provide proper first aid. Community members wishing to register for a first aid class are required to pre-pay their registration fee (non-refundable) seven days prior to the class date, or their name will be removed from the class roster.

Prostate Cancer Screening

For Men

Wednesday/May 13• 2-6 p.m. By Appointment Only • Call MCH Public Relations to schedule an appointment – (419) 949.3089. This FREE screening is targeted for men over 50 and includes: completing a basic health information sheet, a PSA blood test, and an examination by a urologist.

This screening will be held in the hospital’s Medical Specialty Center North. Please use the hospital’s main entrance for the screening.

This year, Morrow County Hospital is pleased to announce a few changes to the annual Sports Physical Exams to allow for more flexibility to families and students for these important screenings.

In addition to Morrow County high school (grades 9-12) students being eligible for these FREE screenings, now 7th & 8th grade students for the 2015-16 school year can take advantage of this event.

Rather than only having one date in May for these physical exams, this year they will be offered at the MCH Primary Care sites* on various evenings for your convenience – Thursday/May 14• 4-7 p.m. Highland (Grades 7-12)

This class is for healthcare professionals who respond to emergencies in infants and chil-dren. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that uses a series of simulated pedi-atric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediat-ric assessment, basic life support, PALS treat-ment algorithms, effective resuscitation and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes. Community members wishing to register for a PALS certification class are required to pre-pay their registra-tion fee (non-refundable) seven days prior to the class date, or their name will be removed from the class roster.
