Voting manual

Version 2.0 Introduction to voting

Superevent can be used for polling among the audience. An active Internet connection is required to vote and a speaker, moderator or organizer and the attendees are required to use the app or the Web.

Voting is very flexible. In a nutshell:

 The voting functionality consists of three parts:

o Manage Votings: this enables speakers or the organizer to go to a session and define the questions with the possible multiple-choice answers and start or stop voting rounds. Speakers are only able to manage sessions to which he or she is linked.

o The Voting module for the attendees to actually vote on these pre-set answers

o The Voting Results: See, and display the voting results.

 The speaker or organizer signs in to the following module:

http://inter.superevent.com/manage/ and gets immediate access to all of the

sessions he can define the voting rounds for.

 The speaker inserts a slide in his or her presentation with a link to the Voting results url. The question and related answers will be part of the powerpoint presentation. During the voting round, the answers are shown dynamically as a bar chart.

To start the voting round, use the start button in the “Manage console” in 

http://inter.superevent.com/manage/

 The attendee votes by tapping on his favorite choice

 When the speaker feels like ending the round, he taps the “Stop” button and gets the results immediately visible on the results link.

 The speakers – or organizer- can immediately start next voting round in the management console.

How does the voting work?

Make sure everybody is familiar with the app before the voting!

It is essential that as much attendee’s as possible are familiar with the app before the session starts so they don’t need minutes to find and install the app. That’s the

Make sure a good and stable Internet connection is provided

Voting is a functionality that depends on an Internet connection. Only devices with an active Internet connection can be used in a voting round.

Set the multiple choice questions

The underneath screen will appear; select the session you want to set multiple choice questions for (use the search bar if you can’t find it)

Starting setting your question and the answers

By clicking on the “Voting” button of the session, the following screen appears:

Create an url-insert for the powerpoint slides to show the live-voting results

By clicking on the “Question result URL” button, the url with the voting results for this question is opened. This url can be used internally to see the results or publically by projecting the browser.

Start the voting rounds

The speaker or the organizer uses this screen to start the voting round by clicking on the orange button which will say initially “Open next voting round” or by clicking the “Active” icon. The first question will be set to active and the voting round has started.

Voting by the attendees is accomplished in three steps:

STEP 1: SPEAKER (OR ORGANIZER) STARTS THE VOTING ROUND (See above)

The speaker asks the attendee’s to grab their phones and start the app or type in the Question URL (See above). When the attendee’s are ready, the speaker or organizer can start the voting round.

STEP 2: ATTENDEE

Attendee’s select the current sessions in their app through the program section. After they found the session they can check in by tapping the Vote icon and go to the vote page. Independent of the app, they can also go to the Voting Page directly by typing the url (see above ) in their browser.

The selected vote will appear in a different colour as follows:

STEP 3: SPEAKER or ORGANIZER

In the meantime, the voting results can be shown on the beamer, by beaming the web site (the url that was previously selected) on the screen. The following will be shown:

NEXT QUESTION?

When the results are addressed in the session, a next question can be shown to the public. The speaker or organizer can simply open the next voting round by using the “Active” icon or the “Open next voting round” button.

If, for some reason, the speaker wants to re-do a voting round, the related question can be “Reset” which will reset all the past vote counts to this question. To re-start the vote, the speaker or moderator can click the tick-box named “Active” and the voting round is active again.

Re-activating a voting round without resetting the question will simply extend the voting round with more votes.
