Password: <VU-net-id Password> 3. Requirements
The following requirements should be met to configure Microsoft Outlook 2011 and connect to the exchange 2010 mail server.
A Macintosh computer with OSX 10.5.8 or later and Outlook 2011 installed. An active internet connection.

4. Opening and configuring Outlook In de Finder menu bar choose Go and select Applications.
Open the application Outlook that will probably be in the Microsoft Office 2011 folder.
When Outlook is started for the first time it will guide you trough a setup wizard. Select add account
If you don’t get the wizard open Outlook and go to the toolbar in the main menu, select Tools and then select Accounts… from the dropdown-menu.
Select Exchange Account
Enter the following information: E-mail address*: <e-mail address> Method: User Name and Password User name: <VU-net-id>
Password: <VU-net-id password> Configure automatically: Mark on Click on the add Account
*Note: Your e-mail address will consist of the
letters of your firstnames separated with dots, then your lastname ending with @vu.nl when you are an employee or @student.vu.nl when your are a student.
If you have entered your e-mail address and VU-net-id correctly Outlook will
automatically detect the server settings for you. This may take some time.

5. Setting a signature
Go to the toolbar in the main menu, select Tools and then select Preferences… from the dropdown-menu.
Go to the e-Mail section and choose Signature
Add a signature in the next screen by clicking the +
6. Setting an autoreply (vacation response) Go to the toolbar in the main menu, select Tools and then select Out of Office... from the dropdown-menu.
Select Send Out of Office messages Type the answer you want to be sent in your absence in under Reply to messages with: and Reply once to each sender outside my company with:

7. Configuring delegates
Go to the toolbar in the main menu, select Tools and then select Accounts… from the dropdown-menu.
Select the VU-Mail account and click on advanced…
In the search field, enter the surname of the user whom you wish to delegate and click Find
Select the user from the list and click OK
A window will be displayed in which you can enter the permissions for the selected user. Select the set of permissions you wish to grant for each category.
Click OK.
8. Opening a shared mailbox

Select the VU-Mail account and click on advanced…
Select the Delegates tab and click on the + under People I am a delegate for.
Enter the name of the shared mailbox in the search field an click on Find
9. Opening a shared calendar
Click File in the top left corner. Select Open and then select Other User’s Folder…
Select Calendar from the dropdown menu. Enter the surname of the person whose calendar you wish to open and click OK.
If there is more than one person with the same surname you will be asked to select the appropriate name from a list.
Selected the correct name and click Select. Click OK
