This Week’s Lessons

Morning Journal

Write your morning journal and complete sentences. Draw a picture to complete your journal entry. Use attached template. “Today is ___. I am feeling ___.”

Ex, Today is Monday, May 11th. I am feeling happy.” Extension:

Students may write more or add to their ideas.

Literacy

Listen to Mrs. Ingalls’ daily read aloud online (located under

Classwork section > Read Alouds) or read a book with a partner for at least 20 minutes per day and complete the Reading Log.

Read-alouds can be found on www.storylineonline.net.

Options for books – books you have around the house, Libby (online Washoe Co. library app), www.getepic.com (free books digitally)

Additional Activities/Resources:

Reading

Comprehension

Complete one task from the Reading Choice Board, an AR test on a book you read, OR a task from the “Choice Activity” section on Google Classroom..

Writing

Choose one activity from the Writing Choice Board to complete per day. If completing a sight word activity, use your level of Rainbow Sight Words. Flash cards are available on Google Classroom.

Here are the details and assignments for

this week. Note: Students may complete

more than one activity per day on the

Choice Boards if desired.

Math

Math Warm Up: Days 1 through 5. Practice one warm up set each day.

Math Choice: Choose one math problem to complete per day from Choice Board OR any task from the Choice Activity section. Additional Activities/Resources:

• Student.freckle.com – Class Code: INGALV then select student.

This is a great resource for math fluency and skills practice.

Science, Social Studies, and Art

Choose one science, social studies, or art activity per day. Science:

• Find plants around your house or yard. Use your hand as a

measurement tool. Draw pictures of what you found and categorize them into taller and shorter than your hand.

Social Studies: Community Helpers

• Read a book or watch a video about Community Helpers. Then

draw and write about what you learned.

• Resources to be posted in Google Classroom under Social

Studies.

Art:

• Hundreds Day drawing: H is for Hundreds Chart... For art, draw a

picture of what you will be like when you're 100 years old! Be creative!

Social and Emotional

Learning Choose and complete one of the SEL activities per day.

Music

Participate in the Music Classroom with Ms. Lily.

Optional: Live Music class via Zoom on Tuesdays at 6:30pm and Thursdays at 9:30am.

Optimistic

Opener – Brain Warmups

Daily openings establish safety and predictability, support contribution by all voices, set norms for respectful listening, allow students to connect with one another and create a sense of belonging. Choose one of the following per day:

• Daily Check In on Google Classroom (Can be done on any device

-tablet, phone, computer).

• Optional: Discuss with someone how you're feeling this morning. • Set a goal for yourself today.

Brain Breaks

Brain breaks are breaks from a cognitive task, instruction, or individual tasks. These may be incorporated before, during and/or after a task or activity – again, use these to fit your student’s needs. These

practices can also provide a space for integrating new information into long-term memory.

Choose one or more per day as needed:

• Practice one of our calm down strategies • Go jump rope

• Use your calm down jar

• Do some stretches as you breath. Try stretching your arms up as

high as you can and bringing them back down with each breath.

• Gonoodle.com – Practice yoga or breathing activities

Reflective Closer

End the day by having students reflect on, and then name something that helps them leave in a reflective state. This provides positive closure, reinforces learning, or can connect school to home, and create a moment of looking forward to returning tomorrow. Choose one per day:

• Write or draw about how you're feeling at the end of the day. • Write or draw about your favorite thing you did today.

• Write or draw about something that brought you joy today.
