Creating Users & Groups

This document is to be used as a guide to creating users and/or

groups in a Domain Server environment;

1. Windows Server Domain exists,

2. Administrative access privileges to create users and/or

groups.

If you have any questions after following these steps, please

contact BIZ-LYNX Technology.

Steps

1. Log onto the Server computer or computer with the correct

username and password ie administrator account.

2. Click on Start and Run and type dsa.msc and click OK as

indicated below. This will open the Active Directory Users and

Computers Management Console.

4. Left click on the Action Menu item, select New and then User

or Group. Creation of a new user will be indicated in the

following steps.

5. Enter the Staff members Firstname, Surname and preferred

user logon name in the boxes indicated. The username is

what will be used to logon to the server with, as indicated

below. Click next when completed (leave all other values with

the defaults provided).

7. Tick the “Create an Exchange …” if you wish to create an

email account for this user (if Microsoft Exchange is installed).

Then click next

8. Click finish on the following screen indicated below

10. Select the profile tab. If you have roaming profiles setup

(ie a share on the server for the users profile), type the profile

path as the fully qualified path to the share. Type

%username% at the end to create a folder in the shared

folder for this particular users profile. You can also use the

home folder to map a drive to a particular shared folder. If

you are unsure of these settings check another users profile

settings or contact BIZ-LYNX Technology for assistance.

11. Select the member of tab and add the groups that this

particular user should be a member of. Ie. Click Add, type the

name and click check names then OK
