Web and IT Manager, Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF), Vancouver, BC

The VIFF is among the top five film festivals in North America in terms of both attendance (approx 140,000) and number of films included (392) (stats from 2012). Traffic spikes to 85K views/month during the festival period (Sept-Oct).

I was part of 2 major projects that helped modernize the festival's operations, which were done concurrently in a compressed 3-month schedule, and both delivered on time for the 2012 festival.

Re-development of viff.org to Drupal 7 platform. I managed the redevelopment of viff.org from 3 WordPress sites to a unified platform built with Drupal 7. I was responsible for:

 Defining the required site functionality in consultation with festival staff  Leading the vendor selection process for a Drupal development agency

 Participating in daily scrums with developers to guide the development process and perform quality control

 Integration of the Drupal website with 3rd party software, including the festival's internal festival management database (FileMaker Pro) and box-office ticketing.

 Training of key staff on Drupal content management

Selection and implementation of a new box-office ticketing system. This allowed the festival to expand online tickets sales hours (up to 1 hour before showtime), and introduced print-at-home and mobile ticketing options. I was part of criteria definition, vendor selection, and the implementation project.

Duties:

 Website content management and server maintenance for the Festival, Vancity Theatre and the Film and TV Forum web properties

 Manage online box office ticketing system, and integration of ticketing to the main Festival website  Develop standards-based templates for email marketing in line with VIFF branding

 Assist marketing department with email marketing and social media campaigns  Front-end design/theming of web properties

 Ensure branding and identity standards are maintained across web properties.

 Conduct web analytics and reporting for internal stakeholders, funding agencies and sponsors  Determine IT needs, priorities and policies, working with senior management and staff to support

Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games - Nov 2009 – April 2010

The Cultural Olympiad Digital Edition (CODE) presented information about the installations, concerts and performances that comprised the Cultural Olympiad. The CANADA CODE sub-site received over 20,000 submissions (pictures, videos, songs and stories) from Canadians that told the world about daily life in Canada.

Duties:

 Content management for the CODE and Cultural Olympiad web properties.

 Responsible for execution of online communications, publicity and news publishing  Collaborate with other resident web developers to stream-line web publishing process.  Coordinate production, editing and translation of copy by staff writers.

 Web graphics production using Fireworks, Illustrator and Photoshop.
