SPECIALIZED SKILLS

Microbiology

Microbial ecology using cultivation dependent and cultivation independent methods to profile soil bacterial.

Isolation and identification of novel mycobacterium phage form soil samples. Isolation and identification of novel propionibacterium phage form integumentary samples.

Bioinformatics/Proteomics:

Excel-based analysis of large data sets from different experimental conditions used to create ven diagrams. Generated mini-arrays of yeast strains with deletions of protein-trafficking genes, which were derived from analysis of data produced in large synthetic genetic arrays (SGAs) from the yeast knock-out collection in collaboration with the C. Boone laboratory. Developed a rapid immunoblotting-based method to assess defects in trafficking pathways.

Planctomyces limnophilius DSM 3376 genome annotation project in collaboration with the DOE Joint Genome Institute.
