Above each patch panel port is a patch cord contact point that is constantly monitored by the Molex Real Time System Monitor. Whether a patch cord monitor wire is engaged or disengaged with a port contact point, the Real Time System Monitor senses the port’s "real time state of connectivity" through this "out-of-band" circuit. Because the monitoring circuit is totally independent of the LAN ports it monitors, there is absolutely no impact on your network’s performance, and there is no way the System Monitor can be fooled. Your network connectivity status is accurately reported without exception!
AUTOMATICALLY UPDATES DATABASE.
Instantly—not minutes or hours later—the Molex Real Time System updates the database and network map on any connectivity change made on the network. Authorised changes, unauthorised changes, even changes made during a power outage are automatically updated in the connectivity database. If a network connection between the database and hardware is lost, the Real Time software will automatically resynchronise itself upon the re-establishment of the network.
SUPPORTS UNLIMITED CONCURRENT USERS.
Unlike systems that allow only one user to access the system at a time, the Molex Real Time System enables as many users as are necessary to make changes while enjoying simultaneous access to network information. These 24- and 48-port high-density IDC Patch Panels feature industry-standard RJ45 ports with easy-to-read labels. Terminated at the rear using V-8 IDC KATT connectors, these patented connectors improve termination security with their unique ‘V’ shape that flexes without fatigue. Integral Patch Panel port sensors register status of all ports—connected or open—and transmit this information to the Real Time Software via the System Monitor. The panels exceed the performance specified by TSB-67 channel and basic link limits. They are PowerSum compliant for cleaner signals and reduced near-end crosstalk (NEXT), tested to 350MHz, and designed to
eliminate short link resonance problems.
Why do Real Time Patch Cords include an extra wire? Because it’s the only way to absolutely, positively avoid connectivity errors. If accurate knowledge of end-to-end network connectivity is your goal, only a direct electrical connection through the patch cord will achieve this. Available in 1U-256 port or 6U-scalable to 2,048 port configurations, Real Time Port System Monitors can be positioned as far as 330 feet from the ports they monitor. In comparison to other systems, that require an individual port monitor for every rack, Molex Real Time System Monitors consume far less rack space and scalability is unlimited. Real Time System Monitors can monitor from 2 to 20,480 ports in a single patch zone. There is no limit to the number of ports that can be monitored by the system or its database.
Using the Real Time Port Wand, identification and connectivity of all ports in the wiring closet/data centre is self-discovered—no other manual input or complex installation practices are required. System setup and mapping is a simple 3-step process (1) Install Real Time Software and your network database on to a local server. (2) Connect I/O cables between the Patch Panels and System Monitor. (3) Touch the Port Wand to the first and last ports of each row of patch panel ports, and all ports are automatically mapped onto the Network Database. The System immediately begins monitoring and updating all network
connectivity.
