Avon Optimist Club - Charles H. Schoen Memorial Scholarship Application (For Two-Year and Vocational Program Studies) now available in the ALC Guidance Office. The scholarship is open to students planning to attend a two-year (Associates Degree) program or vocational-technical training. Applicants need to be a resident of Washington Township and have a “C” average. One scholarship is awarded for $2,000 per year. Deadline to apply: March 1, 2014
The Knights of Pythias are sponsoring a poster contest open to any high school student in grades 9-12. First place price is $1,000 with awards also going to places 2 – 8. Theme: “Don’t Be A Bully, Be A Friend” / Deadline: April 1, 2014 (local level) For additional information, pick up brochure and application in ALC or AHS Guidance Office.

• Indiana Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance – (4) $500 scholarships will be awarded to college-bound high school seniors.
• Horatio Alger Scholarship – must demonstrate financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required)

Avon Tri Kappa Scholarship - $2,000 will be awarded to one or more seniors residing in Washington Township
Indiana University Balanced Man Scholarship – eight scholarships of up to $1,000 will be awarded to male students planning to attend IU Bloomington in the fall of 2014.
Beta Sigma Psi/National Lutheran Fraternity- two scholarships of up to $2,000 will be awarded to Lutheran men planning to attend Purdue University, Indiana University or University of Illinois. Get help with your 4-H Scholarship applications! Attend the Hendricks County 4-H Scholarship Workshop on January 7th at 6:30 p.m. in Conference Room 1&2 at the Fairgrounds.

WINTER 2 SESSION---ANNOUNCEMENT for CIESC Driver Education Class & Online Course. The CIESC Driver education class starts on Monday, January 13th, 2014 after school and runs for 12 days, Monday through Thursday—no Friday classes. Classes will be 2 ½ hours each day. You must be at least 15 years of age by the start of class to sign up. You can pick up your brochure in the main office or guidance office or you can register online at www.driveredsafety.com Cut off date for registration is Monday, January 6th , so sign up before you leave for Christmas break. At least 6 students are needed to have a class session. If the classroom is not for you, if you have too many conflicts, CIESC has an online course you can also sign up for—take it at your own pace. Either way, learn the right way—CIESC Driver Education. Don’t wait, sign up today!

Lost & Found Update. Students please remember to check Lost & Found in Student Services, ALC Office, the Band area and Dance area before the end of first semester. Items not claimed as of Wednesday, 12/18/13 will be donated to a local charity.
African Diaspora will be having a Christmas party this Thursday after school in room B202 for all members. If you would like to participate in our "White Elephant" game, please bring a silly gift. Also, please remember to pick up your t-shirts in room C201.
