Gateway University Research Park

Located on two 75-acre campuses in Greensboro, Gateway University Research Park is helping to facilitate collaborations between world-class researchers and businesses – to move scientifi c discoveries from the lab to the marketplace. This benefi ts the local community, region, and North Carolina by transforming cutting-edge intellectual properties into thriving business ventures. Gateway University Research Park’s Joint School of Nanoscience

and Nanoengineering is an innovative partnership between North Carolina A&T State University (NC A&T) and

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). Degree programs include a Doctorate and Master’s in Nanoengineering and Nanoscience.

The JSNN blog is a 105,000 square foot interdisciplinary research facility with specialized nanotechnology

resources and conventional science and engineering facilities under one roof. The major JSNN resources include:

• Nanoelectronics and Nanobioelectronics Cleanroom

• Characterization suite, including NMR facility, Analytical facility and Microscopy Lab

• Shared Nanoscience labs, including Nanobiology, BSL-3, Nanobiophysics, and Nanochemistry

Piedmont Triad Research Park

Piedmont Triad Research Park (PTRP) located in downtown Winston-Salem, the 200-acre research park is an innovative community supporting the life sciences and IT research and development. With a shared vision for diversifi ed technology-led economic development the park features life sciences-based companies incuding Targacept, which is developing therapies for nervous system diseases and disorders.

The vision guiding the park is to develop three distinct districts – each with its own unique character and focus.

• Central Biomedical Campus District consists principally of University-related biomedical research areas and collaborating biomedical research fi rms

• South Academic and Research District contains biomedical research, development, and offi ce uses associated with Winston-Salem State University, Center for Design Innovation, and Forsyth Technical Community College, among other uses.

North Carolina A&T State University has been ranked in the top tier of national

universities in several categories in the 2013 U.S. News & World Report college rankings.

A member of the University of North Carolina system, North Carolina A&T State University ranks third in the system for research funding. Wake Forest University

Wake Forest garnered the 27th spot among national universities by U.S. News & World Report for 2013.

Elon University

U.S. News & World Report has named Elon #2 for southern Regional Universities for 2012.

Elon University is a private university known for excellence in arts and sciences along with outstanding professional programs. Elon is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the nation’s number one “School to Watch” and was featured as the nation’s “leader in engaged learning” by Newsweek-Kaplan. The University of North Carolina School of the Arts

UNCSA was again named one of the top 100 Best Values in Public Colleges by Kiplinger’s climbing to 41st for 2012.

An arts conservatory of international renown, the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) was the fi rst state-supported, residential school of its kind in the nation. Salem College

Money magazine has named Salem one of the top 10 “Best Buys” among women’s colleges seven years in a row.

Salem College, the oldest continually operating institution for women’s education in America, is located in the historic village of Old Salem. Started in 1772 by the area’s early Moravian settlers, the school is an intimate learning community of women from all over the world and is one of our nation’s most distinguished private liberal arts colleges.

Guilford Technical Community College

The third largest community colleges in the nationally-recognized North Carolina Community College System, Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) has been serving Greensboro and Guilford County for more than 50 years. GTCC offers a variety of degree programs and customized training for businesses located in the area. GTCC’s innovative, state-funded programs are a valued service sought by new and expanding businesses.

• 93 degrees, 26 diplomas and 78 certifi cates, a total of 197 awards from 90 unique programs.

• Campuses are located in Jamestown, Greensboro, High Point and the T. H. Davis Aviation Center at the Piedmont Triad International Airport

• Three Centers include Small Business, Aviation, and Global Logistics

• Outstanding programs in Aviation, Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Technology, Biotechnology, Entertainment Technology

• The North Carolina Center for Global Logistics, a collaborative effort among four community colleges, is housed at GTCC. The new facility at the Donald W. Cameron Campus, will provide transportation and aviation courses, a business and industry training center, and simulation space for warehousing and distribution.

• The T.H. Davis Aviation Center is a 36,000 square foot training facility housing dedicated shops for aircraft engines, welding, aircraft electrical systems, and Powerplant training. GTCC has an additional 60,000 square foot facility near Honda Aircraft Company, providing courses in composites, non-destructive testing, avionics, sheet metal fabrication, and airframe work.

Forsyth Technical Community College

Operating since 1960, Forsyth Tech is also one of the largest community colleges in North Carolina offering vocational instruction, college transfer and two-year degree programs, corporate training, and continuing education programs. State-funded, customized training for business is also offered through Forsyth Tech providing over 500 customized courses a year for over 6,000 employees of local companies.

• Forsyth Tech operates seven campuses in Forsyth County
