Proposal and Contract
Silver Level Intellyx
Influence Subscription
Summary
Intellyx is the leading advisory, analysis, and thought leadership firm focused on architecting business agility in the enterprise. Intellyx is unlike any other boutique industry analyst firm, because it doesn’t focus on IT markets. Instead, it focuses on business agility enablement. Intellyx leverages this focus to offer the right audience, the right content, and the right marketing process to help our Influence Subscribers meet their marketing and lead generation goals.
Social media in particular have transformed marketing over the last decade. Traditional one-way communications don’t work well anymore. Enterprise IT audiences are increasingly skeptical about vendor and service provider claims. Today, the key to successful marketing is building independent credibility and leveraging it to establish conversations with your audience of prospects and customers.
As marketing as transformed, so has the influence role of industry analyst firms. Content is still king, but today the audience expects content to be free and ubiquitous. The quality of
Architecting Agility
™
the content is the coin of the realm, and the audience expects to be able to interact with analysts via social media.
Furthermore, as the number of technology buzzwords proliferate, the enterprise value proposition tends to get lost in the noise. And if buyers can’t connect the product or service on offer to the problems they want to solve, the buying decision process becomes more difficult and drawn out.
Intellyx solves these problems by combining a business-driven vision, the power of social media, a well-qualified enterprise IT audience, and focused, high-quality content to drive leads for influence subscribers by building and maintaining conversations with the Intellyx audience, and including subscribers in those conversations. When it’s time for a sales follow-up, the prospect will already feel that the sales call is one more
interaction in an ongoing conversation.
The Audience
During his 12 years at ZapThink, Jason Bloomberg built a loyal following of IT executives and other managers, Enterprise Architects, and many other IT professionals dealing with architecture, integration, and increasingly, enterprise Cloud and Big Data issues. Over 8,000 people in all industries from around the world who have followed Jason over the years have opted in to receive the Intellyx Cortex biweekly newsletter. Jason also has over 3,000 LinkedIn connections, over 3,000 LinkedIn followers, and over 600 members of the
Intellyx-managed LinkedIn group, Agile Architecture Revolution. In addition to these thousands of named contacts, Jason’s reach extends to tens of thousands more people via his
numerous content outlets, conference speaking, and other activities. The vast majority of this following consists of qualified, senior-level enterprise IT professionals.
The Content
Jason Bloomberg is a well-known and seasoned technology writer, having written four books and published over 600 articles, and he continues to write a steady stream of insightful, differentiated content at Intellyx. Much of the content is written in the form of the biweekly Cortex newsletter, the DevX Agile Architecture Revolution blog, the Intellyx Blog, as well as custom pieces.
All Intellyx content centers on its central theme: architecting business agility in the enterprise. For enterprise customers, Intellyx offers training and advisory on the
Bloomberg Agile Architecture (BAA) Technique, a unique approach for leveraging technology
to achieve business agility across the organization. BAA is a technology-centric approach, and Intellyx calls upon vendors and service providers to rise to the challenge of supporting the Agile Architecture vision for their customers. Intellyx subscribers are fully integrated into this conversation.
Architecting Agility
™
Intellyx also publishes the Architecting Agility Vendor Landscape Report at least twice a year. This report is Intellyx’s primary tool for communicating the criteria for enabling the Bloomberg Agile Architecture vision. It reviews a select number of vendors and service providers across the IT landscape, scoring them on Intellyx’s Agile Architecture enablement criteria.
This report will always be available to the public at no cost (only registration is required), and vendors also may participate at no cost. However, Intellyx will only select a limited number of vendors who meet most or all of the criteria. Silver and Gold Influence Subscribers are guaranteed a spot in the report.
Jason also presents at conferences on a regular basis as well as customer Webinars, events, and Podcasts. Many videos of past presentations are available on the Intellyx YouTube channel, and slideware is posted to SlideShare.
The Process
All Intellyx-created content (as well as certain subscriber-created content) goes through a multi-step social media process, as illustrated below.
In the chart above, blue boxes indicate vendor-independent content, while yellow boxes indicate content that may mention or discuss subscribers.
The Cortex newsletter goes to the Intellyx email list and gets syndicated via Sys-Con article syndication as well as Wired Innovation Insights. The Cortex as well as the DevX Blog, the Intellyx Blog, and custom writing get posted to the Intellyx Web site, which goes out over
Architecting Agility
™
posted as LinkedIn status updates and in some cases as LinkedIn articles, which are cross-posted to the Intellyx-managed Agile Architecture Revolution LinkedIn group (over 600 members) and select other LinkedIn groups depending upon topic. Every appearance of every piece of content is then tweeted, and all tweets of any content are retweeted. Subscribers contribute content to Webinars, custom writing, the Intellyx Blog, and the Agile
Architecture Vendor Landscape report. Webinars are promoted via the Cortex Newsletter,
the Intellyx Web site, and various articles, and are also posted to SlideShare along with Intellyx conference presentations. When videos of Webinars or conference presentations are available, they are posted to the LinkedIn YouTube channel and from there, fed into the rest of the process. Furthermore, whenever a subscriber posts relevant content anywhere online, tweets, or mentions or quotes Intellyx, Intellyx will tweet or retweet those
mentions and cross-post them when appropriate.
The goal of this process is first, to give a broad audience numerous opportunities to find and read the content and find it useful, and second, to foster conversations based on the content. Jason personally responds to all comments on LinkedIn, Twitter, the Intellyx Web site, or elsewhere, with an eye to fostering conversations specifically around subscribers. Such conversations may lead to personal introductions between interested parties and subscribers.
Deliverables – Intellyx Silver Influence Subscription
This proposal and contract provides an overview of the services Intellyx offers to clients under the Silver Influence Subscription.
This subscription is for a six-month period beginning on the last date shown at the bottom of this agreement. During that time Intellyx will provide:
Social Media Support
Intellyx will help you establish and build upon conversations with customers and prospects via multiple social media, including LinkedIn, Twitter, and the Sys-Con syndication engine. We’ll retweet your tweets, mention you in our tweets, cross-post your press releases and blog posts to our LinkedIn group Agile Architecture Revolution, and take any other steps that make sense to increase your visibility and build relationships with your target audience as described in the Process section above. Note that we won’t retweet and repost everything, as overdoing social media can quickly become counterproductive. Instead, we will work with you to determine the right balance to maximize the effectiveness of your social media efforts.
We are also happy to advise you on how to get the most value out of social media. We’ve learned a number of tricks of the trade over the years, and we’re happy to pass along what we’ve learned.

Unlimited Briefings and Conversations via Phone or Email
The hallmark of all of Intellyx’s subscription levels is our truly unlimited briefings and advisory service. Send us an email and we’ll respond, usually in 24 hours or less. Make an appointment for a call – for as long as you like, as often as you like. No limitation on the number of people in your organization who can take advantage of this service. Unlimited advisory is available to all employees and board members.
How can we offer such unlimited advisory and still have time to sleep? Over the years we have found that our customers have their own limits on the time they can spend with us. Yes, you could schedule an 8 hour call, and you are welcome to do so – but how likely is it that you and your team will have 8 hours to spare for such a call? We’d simply rather let our customers set the limits rather than setting the limits for them.
Typical uses for this time: briefings on new products, services, customer wins, etc. Discussion of product roadmaps or go-to-market strategies, review and critique of marketing collateral or analyst/investor decks, discussion of competitive insights, etc.
Press Services
All Intellyx Influence Subscribers are entitled to two important press services. First, they may ask for quotes to support outgoing press releases, presentations, analyst and investor decks, etc. Second, they may provide our names to media as analysts that have been briefed on the subject matter. No guarantee is made that the quotes will be positive in nature, but we will be completely frank with you ahead of time about the nature of the quotes we will provide, so you won’t be caught by surprise.
Networking Benefits
Intellyx will make at least ten (10) introductions to potential partners, customers, investors, or hires as the opportunity arises. These introductions can either be
opportunistic, or if the client wishes, we can search through our extensive list of contacts for specific introductions as requested.
Participation in One Webinar
Intellyx will provide Jason Bloomberg to participate in one Client-sponsored Webinar. Participation includes the following:
• One Webinar presentation on a date of mutual agreement with the topic to be decided by you and Intellyx. Presentation length will be approx. 20-30 minutes long, and Webinar will be approx. one hour long.
• Webinar will be conducted via telephone, and Webinar logistics will be provided by you. You are responsible for all logistics for the Webinar and associated costs.
Architecting Agility
™
• Intellyx will promote the Webinar in our biweekly Cortex email newsletter, in all research and event listings on the Intellyx Web site and syndicated sites, and via multiple social media outlets, for up to three months prior to the event date. • Intellyx will make Intellyx’s presentation available for free download on SlideShare
(and YouTube if the video is made available), and will promote the availability of the presentation as well as the archived Webinar via the Intellyx Web site and multiple social media outlets.
• In order to initiate promotion of the Webinar, Intellyx will need (a) the name of the Webinar, (b) the URL of the live registration page for the Webinar, and (c) a brief description of the Webinar.
Blog Post Write-Ups
Intellyx will write at least two blog posts discussing you and your products or services, and how you support your customers’ business agility requirements. The blog posts will be posted on the Intellyx Web site and from there go through the social media process outlined above. You will have the opportunity to fact-check the blog posts before publication, but editorial control remains with Intellyx.
Reprint Licensing
The Intellyx Silver Influence Subscription includes the right to license up to 1,000 words of Intellyx written content for any marketing purpose, as long as the content isn’t changed and attribution is provided. The content may be taken from the blog post write-ups or any other source that Intellyx owns the copyright to. Intellyx will format the licensed content with Intellyx branding if you desire.
Research
Access to all Intellyx research and opinion is free to everyone. In addition, subscribers are not entitled to special coverage in our research by virtue of their status as customers. However, we do tend to be better informed about subscribers than other companies, and thus subscribers may be mentioned more often. Being a Silver Influence Subscriber guarantees you a spot in one Agile Architecture Vendor Landscape report.
Promotion as an Intellyx Silver Subscriber
Intellyx will place your logo in a prominent place on the Intellyx Web site and in other marketing materials that list Intellyx customers.
Discounts
Silver-level Influence Subscribers are entitled to a 10% discount on everything Intellyx offers (except for the subscriptions themselves). In particular, these discounts can be applied to course registrations, poster sponsorships, and other marketing services, for example.
