TRANSFERABILITY • Experiences from the pilot transfer are that evaluation tools are easy to transfer, methodology and networking way of operation needs analysis and implementation to regional structures. The transferability is piloted between Helsinki Region and South Sweden into incubator and science park.

• A Proven Concept for commercialization of knowledge-based innovations, good track record of results o Tool for co-operation between universities, research institutes and science parks

o good example of private public partnership o efficient tool in generating new companies

• Researchers porr business knowledge • Researchers may not have ability or willingnes to invest enough resources (time or money)

o Efficient operation and good numbers need financing - public money is needed

• per annum 160 ideas registered

o 80 ideas evaluated and 25 companies set-up 2004 o Positive satisfaction statements, e.g.; Codeonline, Loginets, Variantum

o Study: 60% cases with high potential 2000-2002

The transfer of Otaniemi concept is on-going between Technopolis Ventures, Helsinki Region and SydSam & Malmö incubator and Kalmar science park, South Sweden.

Otaniemi, SydSam and the HIGHEST network has transferred, piloted and implemented Otaniemi Best practice Experience to South Sweden, analysed HIGHEST regions status and needs, exchanged results of implementation and expanded Highest conclusions to PAXIS level • InnoTULI – TEKES financed private - public cooperation consortium is operating in the earliest phase discovering the most promising ideas & start-ups, evaluating and providing small grants funding of critical tasks, studies or development • The main steps are activating, screening, evaluation, selection, project study by consultant, reporting and follow-up
