Thinspace’s mission is

to drive and facilitate

the adoption of

new technology in

a cost effective and

ecological manner

Thinspace is a leading provider of cloud client technology: with a difference. We work with organisations to help migrate them from PCs to next generation, more cost-effective, greener and highly secure server and cloud based solutions. Our technology delivers operational efficiencies and tangible cost savings, while reducing the impact IT has on the environment with up to 90% in energy savings and significantly less end-of-life waste (WEEE).

Our solutions encompass hardware, software, and services, including cloud client devices, PC converter, digital signage, cloud based asset tracking, patient monitoring system, internet safety and DaaS (Desktop as a Service) offerings.

Founded in 2006, Thinspace has grown to be a leading independent thin client vendor globally. Our product range surpasses the market leaders on cost and performance and a personal service from our technically excellent team ensures that all client installations run smoothly. We’re also supported by the best executive advisors in the industry.

Thinspace is headquartered at Daresbury Science and Innovation Campus in Cheshire, UK, a world class government backed location for high-tech business and leading edge science. We surround ourselves with forward-thinking technologists committed to delivering market-leading hardware, software and services.

Cloud Computing refers to various IT resources (infrastructure, platform, applications) being delivered over a private network or the internet as a Service.

A Cloud Client is a small form factor network device that relies on central servers for all or the majority of its processing power, storage, and applications.

Relatively costly and frequently under-utilised PCs are an increasingly expensive and restrictive burden for most organisations. As growth of cloud computing and desktop virtualisation continues apace, most companies no longer need PC power at the desktop. And while PCs can still be used in these environments the spiralling cost of increased maintenance and support make doing so a false economy.

For companies relying on central servers or making the move into the cloud, operational savings generated by the sharing of central resources is often negated by the increasing support and renewal costs associated with maintaining a PC-based environment. By switching to cloud clients companies can make IT savings upwards of 50%, including 71% reduction in IT maintenance and 61% reduction in capital expenditure, based on a study carried out between Thinspace and Lancaster University Management School in 2010.

We know that it’s important to keep the management of your cloud client environment simple and flexible. That’s where TAMS comes in. TAMS provides a centralised management console so each Thinspace cloud client can be easily configured according to the IP address or group name. All management functions including wake-on-LAN and firmware updates can be executed simply with a few mouse clicks, regardless of the cloud clients’ physical location on the network. This provides administrators with an intuitive and secure solution that can significantly simplify management tasks while reducing deployment and maintenance costs.

Thinspace digital signage content creation software allows users to create professional and head turning content that can be controlled by a touch of a button.

As an interim step towards a major migration to a cloud client environment, Thisnpace’s PC converter allows organisations to extend the life of their PCs while centralising data, storage and user management by converting PCs into cloud clients.

Not to forget the increasingly popular SaaS offerings. From asset tracking, patient monitoring, to kids internet safety systems… Thinspace has a range of cloud-based software applications that are intended to add value to organisations wishing to take full advantage of the many benefits SaaS brings.

In addition, Thinspace’s Desktop-as-a-Service provides organisations of the 21st century with elasticity, scalability and speed of deployment, all without capital expenditure.

At Thinspace we already work with hundreds of customers across a broad range of sectors, from healthcare and call centres to retail and airports. Each industry is able to benefit from a series of shared and unique benefits that operating a cloud client environment can bring.

Healthcare

Data and medical records can be stored securely on central servers and accessed and shared by authorised personnel from any location. Hospitals, health care trusts, GPs and consultants benefit from up-to-the-minute data and are able to offer timely treatment and care for patients.

Education

Cloud clients can provide teachers, students and parents with increased access to ICT at a lower total cost of ownership. No whirring fans or overheating PCs make for a more conducive learning environment. Centrally managed devices provide a highly reliable and secure network that requires little maintenance.

Banking

With sensitive financial and personal data being stored centrally cloud clients create a highly robust environment that is easier to manage. Even when users demand mobility, mobile and tablet thin clients are able to maintain security levels, without the worry of data being lost or stolen.

Retail

For these highly distributed environments cloud clients eliminate the in-store IT headache. Remote management software ensures that the stores remain up-to-date and supported, while shop floor staff are able to securely access inventory data quickly and efficiently. POS and chip-and-pin systems are also supported.

Contact centre

Cloud clients come into their own in the fast moving, dynamic contact centre, driving. Improved productivity and responsiveness through quick access to centrally stored data and updated applications. Smaller form factors create space, energy and power savings, while the elimination of fans is perfect for a cooler and quieter environment in which to handle calls.

Utilities

For utilities that depend on a robust network, cloud clients provide secure way to access centrally stored data. Reduced down times and the elimination of virus attacks, ensures productivity remains high. Since cloud clients have less moving parts, they are also less likely to break providing utilities with a

Thinspace offers the widest range of market leading cloud clients. Whether you need desktops, notebooks, integrated or hybrid clients, PCoIP, or tablet and zero clients, we can help. We also realise that one-size does not fit all, which is why we’re able to customise our solutions to fit your needs, and offer a choice of operating systems from open source to Windows Embedded.

Everything we build is pre-configured and installed at factory level. This allows us to deliver six key benefits, which we like to call SCOPES. Thinspace cloud client customers can expect to benefit from SPEED of deployment and reduced COSTS because all the hard work happens before the installation and very little needs to be done by the deployment team. Customisation, build and integration of software and hardware pre-implementation means that a Thinspace cloud client fits: fits your infrastructure, business and needs, to deliver OPTIMAL performance. A great fit means greater PROFITABILITY and EASE of management as maintenance and support is simplified and costs minimised as a result of tailoring. And let’s not forget SECURITY. Thinspace customers typically benefit from improved security as customised security measures can be integrated into the operating system from the outset. We make managing your cloud client space easy. Our unique enterprise remote management software ensures that set up, configuration and updates are quick and simple. There are no limits to the number of platforms, devices or users you can add and you can manage the cloud clients over LAN, WAN and the internet providing you with true flexibility. Our PC converter, as well as other software and service solutions can bring further added value to end user organisations.

We work in partnership with some of the leading cloud technology providers, including Citrix, VMware, Microsoft, Quest, Terradici, IBM and Virtual Bridges so you’re assured that our solutions can simply slot into your existing environment. We also work with many world-class delivery partners, including Capita, Insight, SCC, HP, A&O, Capgemini, Centralis, Softcat and Mantech Computers to ensure that you receive a world-class implementation.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, we make things simple. We don’t oversell technology and keep focused on your needs at all times, designing environments that fit and are scalable.

to deploying desktops to users we

are now able to respond more

upgrades, only having to add the

application to a small number

of Citrix servers as opposed to a

large number of fat clients,”

Ken Wilkes, consultant at Solihull Council

“Warrington prides itself on the use of cost

effective leading edge technologies to

deliver excellent public service, achieve

high staff productivity and work within

budgets. We expect the project using

Thinspace devices to generate significant

cost savings, reduce carbon emission

while expediting real improvements in

council processes,”

Andy Farrall, Director of Environment and Regeneration, Warrington Borough Council

“For dentists, blended learning with

knowledge and practice hand in hand is the

way forward. We want all of our graduates

to be academically excellent whilst

also clinically highly competent. Having

Thinspace’s cloud clients inside all our

dental simulators ensures just that; students

are highly equipped and well rounded well

before they enter the clinical environment.

Thinspace has made a considerable

way students learn at Liverpool,”
