Progress
Embedding these values in the SPP requires operationalizing them in our
procurement practices (KPIs) and equipping procurement professionals with the
tools to carry out these practices.
“Sustainable Procurement means taking into account the environmental and social aspects of the products and services to be procured as well as the attitude of the supplier towards sustainability.”

Supplier Sustainability
Performance Assessments
IPSS as minimum requirements
MVO product-specific criteria applied
The ING Sustainable Procurement Program is made up of three phases of integration: - Supplier qualification (IPSS); - Supplier performance assessment (FIRA); - And product/service assessment
11
Phase 1 solution:
ING Procurement Sustainability Standards
Minimum Requirements for Social and Evnironmental Responsibility 3rd Parties
In 2012, the ING Procurement Sustainability Standards were approved by the Management
Board of ING Bank. Within six weeks the IPSS were implemented in the Netherlands
and within four months they were implemented globally.

Phase 2 Solution
: FIRA Sustainability
12
FIRA is a sustainability performance assessment tool for 3rdparties.
It is a means for heightening transparency in our supplier base as it will make sustainability information of ING suppliers available.
FIRA applies a methodology based on ISO26000 and GRI standards and assumes an engagement-centered
approachto suppliers.
The FIRA platform will provide ING with the opportunity to connect with sustainable suppliers through FIRA’s database of assessed suppliers.
FIRA will provide verification services for assurance of suppliers’ sustainability commitments and claims.

Green Deal
"Our global economy is driven by taking material out of the ground, making
something out of them, and ultimately they get thrown away. And with the
sudden rise of 3 billion new middle-class consumers around the world, that model simply cannot function in the long
term.”
Phase 3 Solution
: Circular Purchasing
• Scope: Procurement managed and contracted suppliers
• Scope: Procurement managed and contracted suppliers with an annual spend > €50K
• Onboarding Approach: Suppliers are selected by the business in waves based on priority level and invited to introduction meetings.
Current Suppliers
• Scope: All new/renewed suppliers with annual spend
• Scope: All new/renewed suppliers with annual spend > €50K
• Onboarding Approach: FIRA is applied to the RfP process and the contracted supplier will be required to become a Bronze-level assessed member within 3 months of the contract signing.
