This course provides detailed information on the functionality of the Vocera System– Vocera Server, Vocera Client Gateway (VCG), and the Vocera SIP Telephony Gateway (VSTG) – and their operating requirements, including server hardware, operating system, IP PBX, and wireless and wired IP infrastructure. Learn to configure Active Directory integration with the Vocera Admin console allowing for easier management of user credentials. Gain knowledge of wireless and wired network infrastructure planning and configuration, and SIP telephony integration with best practices and

troubleshooting:

Learn how to install and troubleshoot Vocera Server software, install service packs, and to update a license key during a server upgrade

Learn to implement badge profiles, perform initial Badge configuration, use the configuration menus, run a hardware test, and troubleshoot common

configuration errors

Configure Active Directory integration

Configure Vocera Telephony, including Vocera extensions, direct inward dialing, and dynamic extensions

Provision high availability telephony, providing redundancy and increased capacity for your Vocera

Learn the architecture, data synchronization, administrative actions that cause restarts and failovers, the Client Redirect Utility, and about network problems and disaster recovery

Vocera Speech Recognition Best Practices

Speech Recognition is a core component of the Vocera system, which enables intuitive call-by-name and call-by-role functionality. When speech recognition accuracy is hampered, it renders the use of Vocera less effective and can generate dissatisfaction and frustration among the user community. This half-day course covers the tools, tips and best practices of troubleshooting and improving speech recognition accuracy to increase user satisfaction.

Vocera Fundamentals for Backup and Tiered Administrators

Vocera recommends every full-time Vocera System Administrator have a Backup and/or Tiered Administrator who can fill in, as needed to manage daily database tasks. The Vocera Admin Console is designed to delegate limited visibility to personnel who support the full-time Administrator. This course covers the skills and tools necessary for a Backup and/or Tiered Administrator to support the Vocera System Administrator in managing their Vocera system.

Learn to create user profiles and add and delete existing users profiles

Distinguish between departments, sub-departments and ordinary groups

Learn when to use an alternate spoken name and how to add them to the database

Understand the different ways to manage group membership and to populate instance conferences

Telephony provides the capability to quickly reach non badge users with the use of existing communications infrastructure. Students will learn to maximize their Vocera solution by integrating Vocera with their PBX systems to allow for outbound and inbound calling to the Vocera badge, direct paging callbacks, high availability telephony, and telephony sharing across Sites. Participants learn how to:

Configure telephony settings such as access codes and toll information

Setup dynamic extensions for users that do not have desk extensions

Apply DIDs and dynamic DIDs that route telephone calls directly to a user’s badge or to a group

Configure Vocera for paging callbacks directly to the Vocera badge

Provision a telephony array for high availability features such as redundancy, scalability and load balancing

Understand telephony sharing across multiple sites
