BOOK REFIEWS

The editors, one a lawyer and the other a professor of pathology at the University of Birmingham, have described in an abundance of technical testi-mony, appendices and illustrations the laboratory method adopted by the Crown for the estimation of sex, age, stature, and reconstruction of the bodies. This pedantic detail they have felt to be necessary because the medical aspects of the trial were without precedent in British court procedure. For exactly the same reason that we all enjoy stories of crime, The Trial of Buck Ruxton will hold a morbid and distasteful fascination for the reader patient enough to plow through its medico-legal obstacles.
