(Standard) is the only solution you need. With platform support that includes Microsoft Windows®, Linux, NetWare® and UNIX and the ability to protect both servers and PC desktops with one product, backup can be centralized, consistent and simplified.

In addition to broad platform support, Standard protects leading databases and applications such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Exchange Server. And with the increasing popularity of Network Attached Storage (NAS), Standard supports a broad class of NAS solutions, including those built on Linux and Microsoft Storage Server 2003 platforms.

Backup, and more importantly, recovery, shouldn’t be complicated or cumbersome. That’s why Standard gives you your choice of a Microsoft Windows, X Window, or Web-based user interface. All three are intuitive and provide wizards to help you through installation, setup and every aspect of backup and recovery.

With Yosemite Backup Standard, you have the flexibility of backing up and restoring at the server, volume, folder or file level. Even if you choose to backup all files associated with a server or PC desktop, you can still restore at a granular level.

The SCALABLE solution for backup

It doesn’t matter if you have a workgroup or a multi-server environment, Yosemite Backup Standard can scale to fit the infrastructure of your small business, because the scalable, three-tier architecture of the product offers Master Server, Media Server and Client Server options.

For example, a minimal configuration consists of a Master Server with locally attached tape devices and/or a tape library. The Master Server can protect itself, along with other licensed clients that exist on the same network.

Clients can be either other servers or PC desktops, running any combination of supported OS platforms. Another important feature of the Master Server is that it maintains the catalog which manages schedules, security and tracks all media and protected files.

If there are servers that need to be backed up directly, or additional capacity is needed to backup server or PC desktop clients, a second tier can be added. This is called a Media Server.

The Media Server is an additional system with locally attached backup devices that can backup itself and other clients just as the master server does. It can also backup multiple clients (server or PC desktop) on the same network.

However, all backup data and job schedules are still centrally managed by the Master Server catalog. Yosemite Backup Standard offers heterogeneous scalability for up to twenty (20) servers within a single Storage Management Domain, including the Master Server, and all Media Servers and Client Servers. Of these servers, up to five (5) servers can control backup devices, this includes the Master Server and up to four (4) optional Media Servers or SAN Media Servers.

The INNOVATIVE solution for backup

From STL to the scalable three-tier architecture, and customizable interface, Standard represents a new generation of backup software. But it doesn’t stop there.

A new option for Standard, the D2D2Ne (Disk-to-Disk-to-Any) Virtual Library Option, allows you to create a Virtual Tape Library (VTL) which utilizes disparate portions of heterogeneous disk storage in your environment. With D2D2Ne you can create a hierarchical disk-based backup methodology that offers unmatched flexibility of use and configuration simplicity.

The VTL becomes one of your targets for backing up data and a source for performing rapid restore operations. With Standard you have the ability to configure up to a 3.5TB VTL and then define policies that determine when data is moved or copied from one VTL to another, or to some form of removable media.

You are not limited to rigid disk-to-disk and seperate copy policies found in other backup solutions.

Standard uses proprietary technology called Self Tuning Logic (STL) to optimize backup and recovery performance with highly parallel data movement operations and dynamic load balancing. During a backup or recovery operation, Standard can read and write multiple concurrent data streams between multiple source data and target device(s). In order to take full advantage of today’s high-speed tape and disk devices, multiple I/O streams of data must be utilized. STL makes this possible, and it is all automatic because the product determines the optimum settings.
