Our Kickstarter Project: JobSwype
Product Idea
• Value proposition
Our idea will be time and cost efficient for both young professionals and
employers/companies. There will be no more waiting to hear back from employers if they are interested or not. There will be no middleman such as a recruiter to follow up on, instead the young professional and company can match right away with each other when both parties are interested. Then when both parties are interested, and have matched, they can schedule an interview right which eliminates the waiting process and any uncertainty. JobSwype offers users the comfort of knowing that with each match that they make they will not be wasting any of their time or money to find a good fitting job or candidate.
• Target market
Young professionals between ages of 18 and 30, at the beginning of their careers. Someone who has a degree, working towards a degree and/or have job experience and is looking for a job or internship, and doesn't have the time to wait for a follow up and reaching out to recruiters/employers. People between the ages of 18 and 30 is at the starting point of their career and don’t always know what to do or to expect from the job hunting and applying process. As student ourselves, between ages of 19-25, we
understand how hard the job process can be. Therefore, we chose to target this age range because we wanted to help people in similar situations as ourselves, find a good job by feeling more confident and less stressed over the process.
• Competitors LinkedIn:
Strengths
• Strong Professional Network: LinkedIn has created the world’s largest online professional network with over 400 million members from over 200 countries. • Strong Content business: LinkedIn has developed strong traffic by “influencer
blog” written by professional leaders around the world.
• Strategic acquisitions enhance business: LinkedIn has improved its market position by acquiring lynda.com, Pulse and Bizo. Those acquisitions enhance a company’s professional offerings and improve its market share and position. • Diversified revenue streams: LinkedIn’s revenues are generated by its three
product lines, premium subscription, talent solutions and marketing solutions. It is not dependent only on advertisements like Facebook.
Weaknesses
• High Cost: To access the premium version and develop a network, the users has to pay from 31,99€ up to 119,99€ per month.
• Time Requirement: The users need time to build its network and when they need to find a job the companies are often not replying.
Monster: Strengths
• First mover advantage: Monster.com was the first of its kind and also one of the earliest commercial websites.
• Vast information source: Monster consisted of a huge repository of information resources and eliminated the effort that companies needed to invest to go out into the market to find resources who match their job vacancies.
• Wide global network: It was a pioneer in the field of recruitment which have offices in more than 40 countries. The concept eliminated the boundary constraints of recruitment.
Weaknesses
• Lack of a clear differentiator: They did not do much to create a clear differentiation for the brand.
• Unclear pricing strategy: Monster did not have a very clear pricing strategy for itself and this confused both job seekers and job providers.
• Morphing from a leader to a follower: Monster.com was the first of its kind of business model after competition picked up it was almost as if the company had lost its spirit of innovation. In the past few years when the brand has started its decline, there has been nothing innovative from their end and have mostly been initiating successful trends of their competitors.
Indeed: Strengths
• Reach: The company has over 200 million of visitors each month • Huge global presence: Indeed is the n°1 job site in the world
• SEO is high: Indeed is the top of the list when Jobs is searched on Google • Easy to use: Candidate journey is smooth, ensuring that they finish their
application rather than getting frustrated and migrating to another site) • Mobile compatible
Weaknesses
• Time responsiveness: Companies often take a long time to answer the users applications.
• Job fitting: Users often don’t find jobs that perfectly fit their needs. • Distribution channels post crowdfunding
o 1) GoFundMe: a personal online fundraising website for individuals, organizations and groups.
o 2)Indiegogo and Kickstarter are more or less similar with some small key differences. We would be available through the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store as well.
Brand Identity
“JobSwype”This idea was inspired from Tinder and we wanted to create a website where
consumers can search for a job and swipe left or right when they are interested in the job or not. JobSwype came from this analogy. We want to provide consumers with a professional job-oriented match-making app (originally) and website service. Where consumers can match with a company or a candidate and arrange for an interview straight away if both parties are interested. After doing a trademark search and found out that name JobSwype is available, we decided to take it because it fits perfectly with our brand idea and identity.
Kickstarter Information Page
• Project Title“JobSwype: The Professional Job and Candidate Searching Website”
People reading the name JobSwype for the first time on Kickstarter might not exactly understand what our project/brand is about. Therefore, our project title will be
“JobSwype - The Professional Job and Candidate Searching Website”. This will give people an idea of what JobSwype is about, a website for young professional to search for a job and a place for hiring companies to find a candidate for hiring companies. After reading the project title people can scroll down to read more about our project details and see what our brand has to offer.
• Short blurb
“No more waiting for the perfect job match. Skip the middleman and go straight from applying to matching.”
• Project Description
The idea is to allow a quick and easy connection between a person looking for a job and an employer. The application is very easy to use. The young professionals looking for a job and the employer looking to hire can each create a profile on our website and add all their information. Then our website application will select the information from both the young professional and the company, scan through it and select only the most relevant matches between the two, each user will then receive a list of candidates and companies that potentially match their needs.
Based on those results the young professional can then apply to the job or internship, and the employer/company can reach out to a candidate. Then there is the possibility, if both sides are interested, to match with each other and then finally schedule a job interview meeting.
What each user can add to their profiles: Young professional:
o Can upload a resume on the website or they can fill in the information on a generic resume template which our website will then generate into a resume.
o The user can add all their qualifications, work experiences, volunteer work, position title and additional information on there like companies, industries, job function/type, and locations that they are interested in working for. (users can edit these preferences anytime & select multiple ones)
Company/Employer:
o Add their open job description
o The employer gets the ability to select the type of applicant they want for each position. They will be able to choose between all these traditional selections i.e. years of experience, location, qualifications etc.
All users will get up to five free matches a day. If users wanted more matches they have the option to purchase weekly, monthly or yearly packages. These package prices will be the same for the job seeker and the companies.
The images that we will use for our Kickstarter campaign will be similar to the ones below:
• Rewards
We will reward top contributors with premium access to the app: o Under $5 receives personalized special email o $5-20 receives 7 matches a day
o $20-40 receives 10 matches a day
o $50+ full premium access to the app for 6 months o $100+ full premium access for a year
o $500+ full premium access for life
o $1,000+ full premium access for life and will receive a special thanks on our “about” page in the app
• Goals
Our goal is to raise $100,000 via Kickstarter, we chose this amount based from our research. This initial capital would aid in the creation and launch of our mobile
application, JobSwype. We conducted research and this is what the following websites had to say about the costs of creating similar websites and apps.
• Website called Savvyapps: “Apps built by the largest app companies, the "big boys", likely cost anywhere between $500,000 to $1,000,000. Apps built by agencies like savvy apps cost anywhere between $150,000 to $450,000. Apps built by smaller shops, possibly with only 2-3 people, likely cost anywhere between $50,000 to $100,000”.
• Website called Shakuro: “A Tinder-like application with basic features, similar design, and functionality patterns, you can consider to cost: $55 000 as a starting point for a basic dating app; up to $70 000 for a single-platform app; and from $100 000 for a cross-platform or hybrid app with premium features.”

What Moz says about domain names:
“Avoid non-.com top-level domains (TLDs)When a webmaster registers a domain name, they will often be given the option to buy additional TLDs. In order to maximize the direct traffic to a domain, bias towards purchasing the .com TLD. If the .com TLD for a domain name you're looking to purchase isn't available, Rand recommends leaning towards .net. , .co, or a known ccTLD as alternatives.Additionally, it is not
recommended that SEO-conscious webmasters purchase low-quality TLDs such as .biz, .info, .ws, .name, etc. as a means of increasing traffic. Because they're less commonly known, these TLDs receive substantially less traffic than the more widely known domains as well as may be more frequently associated with spammy behavior.”
JobSwype’s domain name will be: Jobswype.co from Godaddy

Website Colors
JobSwype’s brand is distinguished and recognizable by its blue and white color palette. “Blue represents: dignity, intelligence, cleanliness, peace, security, trust, and calmness of mind. “Blue ranks so high as a favorite colour that you can’t go wrong if you use blue. However, blue can be over-used. Combining value with another colour creates a more creative effect.” Blue’s meaning matches with what we stand for as a company and what we are trying to achieve.

Personas of Users
Persona of Young Professional:Dana Beatty is a 21 year old third year student at Tufts University in Boston,
Massachusetts. She is an International Relations and Economics double major who holds a 3.9 GPA. She has just returned to Boston from her semester-long internship at Deloitte in Los Angeles and is now looking to find an internship in the Boston area. Ideally, Dana would like to start her internship at the beginning of her fourth year at Tufts, in the fall of 2018. Dana would like to find an internship relevant to her field of study, close to her apartment, and within the time frame she is looking to work (her fall semester).
Dana’s time spent at Deloitte proved to be valuable in obtaining practical work experience, showing her the value of an internship. However, Dana walked away from the experience not knowing whether or not Deloitte was the right match. Dana heard about JobSwype from someone in her International Trade course and decided to create a profile to look for an internship for the fall. Dana heard that JobSwype provides
instant, suitable matches that result in real-life connections being made.
How the matching process will work for young professional Dana:
Dana creates a profile with JobSwype. She enters her personal information, along with the job title of the job she is looking for. She also uploads her resume with this form. Once her account is created, the website parses her resume and extracts from it relevant information, such as skills, past experience, job titles, dates, and other such keyword-related information. This information is stored associated with Dana’s user account in the JobSwype database. The matching process begins after this. The matching process takes Dana’s information, and searches in the JobSwype database for employers that 1) have openings available for the position Dana specified she is interested in and 2) employers that are looking for candidates that have the qualifications and match the criterion specified by the employers when they created their JobSwype account. When this process is complete, Dana is shown a list of companies that match her job preference and that are likely to hire her because she matches the criterion they are looking for.
From this list, Dana can choose to match with the employer. The employer then receives a notification that she is interested to match with them. From here the
employer can decide if they want to match back. Once the employer has approved a match, they and Dana can communicate and schedule an interview through the
website. If no match occurs then the user must continue to search for something as new profiles will be created regularly. JobSwype thus facilitates the matching of employers and employees, and puts them in contact with each other.
Persona of Employer/Company:
Loreal USA, located in New Jersey is currently looking for a Marketing student with a gpa of 3.5 or higher to fill their summer internship position. The internship will be 12 weeks, starting Monday, June 18th. The intern will work closely with Loreal’s
marketing team; creating promotional materials for a new product that will be launched at the end of the year.
This position only recently opened up and Loreal USA wanted to find an intern as soon as possible without working through a recruitment agency. Loreal discovered Jobswype online, read their About page and decided to work through JobSwype. Within two weeks, the company matched with three candidates and was able to arrange an interview very conveniently without any hassle. At the end of the entire process, Loreal found their perfect candidate within two weeks, without a recruiter, proving that
JobSwype provides their users with instant connections.

How the matching process will work for the company/employer:
The human resources department of Loreal creates a profile with JobSwype. The user adds company information to the profile and specifies the position for which they are looking for. JobSwype creates the profile and adds it to the database. JobSwype parses the position description and extracts from it relevant information to specify a criterion for matching candidates to the position. Once this is done, the matching process begins.
JobSwype looks through its database to select candidates that satisfy the criteria as determined by the position description. Additionally, candidates that satisfy such criterion are only considered valid candidates for the position by JobSwype if the
candidate specified in their profile that they want a position similar to the one which the employer has specified when creating their account. When the search is complete, the user sees a list of valid candidates.
From this list, the user can choose to match with a candidate; the candidate receives a notification that the employer wants to match with them. If the candidate accepts the match, the employer and the candidate can communicate and schedule an interview through the website. If no match occurs then the user must continue to search for something as new profiles will be created regularly. JobSwype thus facilitates the matching of employers and employees, and puts them in contact with each other.
