Create a short routine before bedtime

that involves quiet activities that occur in

the same order every night. For example,

Rediscover Parenting is a 15-week closed parenting support program for women who have experienced abuse in their lives to explore the parenting relationship. It

acknowledges the impact of family violence on the mother/child relationship. Re-discover Parenting focuses on the lived experiences of women who have been impacted by abuse and acknowledges the multiple barriers they struggle with especially when leaving an abusive relationship and how that impacts their sense of self and therefore impacts the parenting relationship. A key component of Re-discover Parenting is to create awareness, understanding and expression of feelings as a way of empathiz-ing with children, which helps to resolve confl ict between the parent and child. Groups are free of charge.

The Children Who Witness Abuse Program The CWWA programs are government funded programs through the Solicitor Generals offi ce under the stopping the violence initiative. CWWA programs provide psycho-educational groups and individual support to children and their mothers im-pacted by abuse in their family. We provide a safe environment that supports children to explore and express their emotions sur-rounding abuse, separation, blame, loss, and /or ambivalence. We do this by using a variety of activities such as arts and crafts, play, reading stories, watching videos and discussion. Children who witness abuse have often kept silent about the abuse in their families and will need to be supported and encouraged to talk about how they have been impacted. The groups are free of charge.

To register please call Linda at 604-531-9143 ext 22
