1. OverviewOverviewOverviewOverview

When Microsoft’s operating system, Windows 95(both Japanese and English version) and Windows NT Workstation 4.0(both Japanese and English version), are ordered as the OS for the personal computer(PC) module of PC-integrated i-Series and Intelligent Terminal Type 2 of FANUC Open CNC, these OSs are shipped in the form of CD-ROM from FANUC.

It is necessary to configure the PC module so that it can use the CD-ROM drive by purchasing the proper hardware and software from the PC market when the installation of the additional software drivers or re-installation of the OS itself is required, because the PC module of the Open CNC does not have the CD-ROM drive.

This manual describes the handling of the CD-ROM drive using the PCMCIA card socket and the installation procedure of the Open CNC drivers at Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0. 2.

FANUC shipped Windows 95(Japanese/English version) with the OS backup medium in the form of FLOPPY DISK until the following changing date. But the order number for Windows 95 has been changed because the OS backup medium is changed from FLOPPY DISK to CD-ROM. So, old order number cannot be used for the new ordering specification.

FANUC ships the CD-ROM and one Setup Boot Disk as the OS media for PC-integrated i-Series and Intelligent Terminal Type 2 of Open CNC(hereafter, "Device"). When you re-install Windows 95 to the hard disk, you will use this Setup Boot Disk in order to boot the OS and let the OS recognize the CD-ROM drive. At this time, PCMCIA SCSI card and CD-ROM drive having the SCSI interface are required as the hardware, and moreover, PCMCIA card service and SCSI card driver are also required as the software. PC-integrated i-Series and Intelligent Terminal Type 2 (hereafter, “Device”) have High Speed Serial Bus (HSSB) Type 2 interface in them.

The Device without ISA extension unit uses I/O port address 280H - 28FH as HSSB interface. This I/O address cannot be changed.

In case of the Device with ISA extension unit, you can select the I/O port addresses by the rotary switches. In case of HSSB multi-connection, determine the I/O port addresses so as not to conflict with the other HSSB interface boards and the other computer resources, before doing the following steps.

Each Device which has HSSB interface is given “Node” number and distinguished by node number at Windows. This is true for the Device which has only one HSSB interface (its node number equals to 0).

example, “FS160 - No.1”, “Milling Machine”) to [Node Name:] within 19 characters. 10. Select the CNC system connected to the HSSB interface from the [CNC Type:] list box. 11. In case of HSSB multi-connection, select I/O port address for the HSSB interface from

the [I/O Port Address:] list box.

12. Click [OK] button to close this window.

In case of HSSB multi-connection, go back to step 8. and repeat these steps for each connected HSSB and CNC.

If a node is not attached to the HSSB interface, select “Disable” from the [I/O Port Address:] list box. After driver installation, I/O port address is set to “280 - 28F” for node-0, “Disable” for other nodes as the default value. 13. Click [Close] button.
