1. The medAmigo (med=medicine, Amigo=friend) web platform is a website which allows the study staff to read the MEMS caps on a secured website.

2. Frequently asked questions and general support documents are available in the “help” tab upon login to the website.

3. If you are already participating in another study using the

www.medamigo.com website, you do not need to install the software again. Moreover, you can use your current login for several studies. You just need to have the additional study activated in your profile and select the appropriate study in the main menu upon login to the website (*).

REQUIREMENTS FOR medAmigo

SOFTWARE INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

Software installation The software ‘AARDEX reader setup’ must be installed on each computer which will be used to read the MEMS caps. The installation must be done before the first subject is enrolled. This Software is required to register and read a MEMS cap on the

www.medamigo.com website ; all MEMS caps which you

received are, however, activated and fully functional! They do not need to be activated on the website.

The installation procedure is described in the following pages. A personal login for thewww.medAmigo.comwebsite is required for the installation. If you haven’t received a login yet, you might download the software from the link provided on page 10.

Personal login Each user should receive a personal login and password by email to access the medAmigo website. You may have received it in your junk-mailbox. If not received, please send an email to the AARDEX Group helpdesk (address provided on page 2).

Internet Connection The medAmigo portal is a web-based application. The software ‘medAmigo ReadMonitor setup’ component used to read the MEMS caps is only compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer version 8 or higher.

Hardware Minimal requirements:

• Computer running Windows 32bits or 64bits with internet connection

• MEMS Reader (or other compatible devices)

• Free USB port

Software • Microsoft Windows 8 (recommended) • Microsoft Windows 7 (recommended) • Microsoft Windows Vista

• Microsoft Windows XP Pro SP2

• Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 or higher, only 32bits version supported

• Microsoft Internet Explorer desktop version only on Microsoft Windows 8

Non validated platforms

Please note that the software is for an internet application; you will not find a shortcut on your desktop after the installation.

Depending on your network security policy, the involvement of the IT team may be required to proceed with this installation

(administrator rights are required for the installation).

SOFTWARE INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Connect the MEMS reader on a free USB port (Windows will automatically find the MEMS reader).

2. Log in to www.medamigo.com

5. If the following screen appears, click on the yellow bar (right mouse button), and « Install ActiveX controls ».

6. Click on « Install ». Then, choose your language.

7. Follow the installation procedure until you are asked to restart your computer. Click on « yes » to restart your computer.

CHECK WHETHER THE INSTALLATION WAS SUCCESSFUL

1. After having installed the software and restarted your computer, open the windows session with the end-users login, then open Internet Explorer and log in to

www.medamigo.com.

3. The first execution of the ActiveX may require a user’s confirmation. If you see again the Installation-page, check if a confirmation is displayed on the top of your Internet Explorer. Click on the yellow bar and select Run ActiveX Control to allow the software’s execution.

Troubleshooting: Internet Security Settings

Check your internet security settings with your IT. All functionalities of medAmigo will work properly only if the following security parameters are turned on.

Troubleshooting: Trusted Sites

If you still have difficulties to access the “Read MEMS monitor” button, please check if the website is listed as a trusted site on your computer.

Go to « Internet options » Click on Trusted sites.

E. ALTERNATIVE SOFTWARE INSTALLATION

1. If the installation from the website is not possible or if you haven’t received a login yet, you might download the software from the following link:

2. Check if the software ‘AARDEX Reader setup’ is installed in your control panel 3. Check if you are using Internet Explorer 8 or higher (only the 32bits version is

supported). Install a shortcut for Internet Explorer 32 bit on your computer. Once this is done, please install the Active X 32 bit application.

a. On a Win7 64-bit computer, two versions of Internet Explorer are available: IE 32-bit (the default) and IE 64-bit (cannot be the default). Shortcuts to both versions should be listed in your Start menu, you just need to open IE 32-bit shortcut.

If you cannot find a shortcut to IE 32-bit, please follow these steps to create a shortcut:

1. Right click on the desktop.

2. Click on New, and then click on Shortcut.

3. Once you click on Shortcut, you will get a box as Type the location of the item.

4. Type the following command "C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe"

5. Click next and finish the process.

Then you can open a 32-bit Internet explorer.

4. In Windows 8, start Internet Explorer from the desktop and not from the start screen (with the tiles).
