Introduction

This document is intended for users of the Operations Support System (OSS) NWS Analyzer Application (NWS-A). It describes the formulas used for calculating the statistics in the reports provided with NWS-A, including:

● which counters that are used, and to which STS or OMS object types they belong ● from which tables and columns in the SDM databases the values are retrieved

The reports are divided into the following groups:

● Overview reports ● Planning reports ● Dropped Calls reports ● Handover reports ● Management reports

● Speech Quality Supervision reports ● Dual Band reports

● GPRS reports

Reports that are almost identical are described in the same section, for example when a report is available for both BSCs and cell sets.

If a report has several sheets, each sheet is described in a table of its own. If a report contains sheets with graphs, these sheets are normally not described, since the measurements in the graphs are usually available in a table elsewhere in the report.

Prerequisites

It is assumed that the user of this document:

● has common knowledge of GSM systems ● is familiar with telecom network statistics ● is familiar with the NWS-A application

OSS documents follow a set of typographic rules that make the documentation consistent and easy to read.

System element names, such as names of typed commands, programs, files, paths and URLs are shown as below. Programs and files: system_config.xml

To get detailed information on how to create own reports, and how to add more data to reports in NWS-A, refer to the documentation for BusinessObjects and Designer.

● Documentation for BusinessObjects is available from the Help menu in BusinessObjects. There is both online help and a user's guide in Adobe Acrobat (or

PDF) format. This help contains general information on the report generator, and detailed information on how to modify and create new reports. However, it does not contain any information specific for the NWS-A reports.

● Documentation for Designer is available from the Help menu in Designer. Similar to the help for BusinessObjects, this help contains detailed information

on how to build and modify universes, but does not contain any information specific for the NWS-A universes.
