131Preface
The EMC Documentum Environment and System Requirements Guide provides the hardware requirements and software versions supported with this release. Machine resources,
non-Documentum software components (Operating System, Java Runtime Environment, and so on), and other EMC Documentum products determine the unique environment for each EMC Documentum product.
Note:
• An EMC product configuration running on a particular environment is supported as long as versions of the components in the environment (for example, operating system, database, web server, browser, SSO, Directory Servers, and so on) are in standard/primary support by their vendors.
• All certifications provided in this document are relevant to the current release. Certifications for patches are documented in the Patch Notes documents published for the patch releases.
• Software requirements are listed with release numbers. Software updates—including patches, Service Packs, and equivalent updates—sometimes introduce unanticipated changes. Compatibility with software updates that are not listed here cannot be guaranteed.

Product Notes
This section lists all the product-specific notes that may apply to the requirements information for Content Server. TheAppendix B, General Notessection lists notes that apply to all products. The following are the product notes:
• x64 refers to the 64-bit architecture, which includes AMD64 and Intel 64.
• High-Volume Server, Documentum Messaging Services, Trusted Content Services, and Thumbnail Server are components of Content Server. They support the same operating systems that Content Server supports.
• For a specific operating system selected for Content Server, use theDatabase Requirements, page 44table to identify the supported databases. Install the database client on the Content Server host. • Localized operating systems and databases are supported.
• Supports Microsoft failover cluster on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2012 R2. See the EMC Documentum Content Server Installation Guide for details. • Supports Enterprise, Standard, and Datacenter editions of the Microsoft operating system.
However, vendor sizing limitations must meet Documentum deployment requirements. • Supports only 64-bit version of JDK.
Content Server System Requirements
• The Documentum Messaging Services (DMS) component of Content Server is supported on Solaris, Windows, AIX, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating systems. For specific version, seeTable 29, page 44.
• From 7.0 onwards, Samba is not supported. You can use LDAP instead. • On Oracle, use UTF8. This includes AL32UTF8 and AL16UTF8.
• On SQL Server, you can use any collation (SQL Server’s name for code page), because this only determines the code page of varchar and char types.
• As a requirement for installation on Windows Server 2008 and higher version, you must disable user account control (UAC). To disable, navigate to Control Panel > User Accounts, click Turn
User Account Control on and off, clear the Use User Account Control to help protect your computer option, and click OK.
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.0 were tested for this release. • Supports Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). Connection broker can be configured on the SSL port (1490). • Supports CAS Server 3.5.2.
• Certified with Atmos.
