Passport Installation

Windows 8 + Internet Explorer 10

OS Version Windows 8

System Type 32bit and 64bit Browser Name & version Internet Explorer 10 Before you begin…

 Make sure you have Anti Virus software installed on your computer eg McAfee, Norton 360, Microsoft Security Essentials

 Remove McAfee Site Advisor software for Internet Explorer if you have it installed, it will stop Passport from working.

Step 1 – check whether you have 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 8 1. From the Windows Start screen click on Desktop

2. Drag the mouse to the bottom right of the screen and bring the toolbar in from the right, click on Settings

3. Click Control Panel

4. The All Control Panel Items window will open, click System

5. The System window will open, look for System type which will say 32-bit or 64-bit.

Step 2 - check whether you are an Administrator on the computer

1. Right-click on the Windows Start screen, then click All apps in the bottom right of the screen

2. Click Control Panel

3. The All Control Panel Items window will open, click User Accounts

4. The User Accounts window will open, check the blue box on the right hand side for Administrator, if you see this you have the right access, close the window

5. If you see Standard, click Change your account type and select Administrator 6. Log off and back in again, repeat steps above and check it now says Administrator.

Step 3 - Create 32-bit Internet Explorer shortcut

NB: Do not user Internet Explorer 64-bit as it will not work with Passport.

1. On the Windows 8 Start screen click on Desktop

2. In the desktop click on the File Explorer icon in the bottom left of the screen

3. On the left hand side under Computer, click on Local Disk (C:)

4. Click Program Files or Program Files (x86), then click Internet Explorer 5. Right-click on iexplore

6. On the menu that appears click Send To then Desktop (create shortcut), an Internet Explorer shortcut icon will be created on your desktop

7. Go to your desktop, right-click on the Internet Explorer shortcut and select Rename

8. Delete the current name for the shortcut, replace with 32bit Internet Explorer for Passport

9. Click away from the shortcut to save the name (or press the Enter on the keyboard).

Make sure you use this Internet Explorer shortcut to access Passport every time you log in.

Step 4 – Remove any existing Passport software

1. Right-click on the Windows 8 Start screen and select All Apps (bottom right of screen) 2. Click on Control Panel then Programs and Features

- Remove all versions of Java

Click on each version of Java, click Uninstall/Change - Remove all versions of Juniper

Click on each version of Juniper, click Uninstall/Change - Remove all versions of Citrix

Click each Juniper version then click Uninstall/Change

Step 5 - Run the Registry Cleaner

1. On the Windows 8 Start screen click on Desktop

2. Open Internet Explorer, copy and paste this URL into the address bar

http://hants.gov.uk/passport-tools/regcleaner.exe, click the arrow at the end of the bar

3. Click on Run (at the bottom of the screen)

4. Click Yes to the user account control prompt 5. Click Yes to run the Citrix Cleaner

6. Click Yes to remove the Citrix folder from Program Files on your machine

7. Click OK to exit the Registry cleaner

8. Close all programs and Restart your machine.

If Registry Cleaner is unable to remove the Citrix folder from Program files, you can do this from the C drive.

1. Right-click on the Windows 8 Start screen and select All Apps in the bottom right of the screen

2. Click Computer

3. Double click on Local Disk C 4. Click on Program Files

5. Right-click on Citrix folder and click Delete 6. Click Yes to delete.

If this doesn’t work, you can download Citrix Receiver Clean-Up Utility from

http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX137494 - click the Download button and save it on your computer by right-clicking on the file, then on Run as Administrator.

Step 6 – Update Internet Explorer settings

1. Open Internet Explorer from the shortcut on your desktop

2. Click the Gear icon in the top left corner and then click Internet Options

3. The Internet Options window will open, select the General tab and under Browsing history click Delete

4. The Delete Browsing History window will open, select Preserve Favourites website data and Temporary Internet files and website files and click Delete

5. You will be returned to the Internet Options window, select the Security tab, click Trusted Sites then click Sites

6. The Trusted sites window will open, copy and paste this url https://passport.hants.gov.uk into the Add this website to the zone field, then click Add

7. The URL will now be displayed in the Websites box, click Close

8. You will be returned to the Internet Options window, stay on the Security tab and click Internet followed by Custom level…

9. The Security Settings – Internet Zone window will open, scroll down the screen and find the following:

- ActiveX Controls & Plugins - Automatic prompting for ActiveX controls, set to Enable

- ActiveX Controls & Plugins - Run ActiveX controls & plug-ins, set to Enable

- Downloads - Automatic prompting for file downloads (not present in some versions) or File Downloads, set to Enable

10. When complete, click OK

11. You will be returned to the Internet Options window, go to the Privacy tab and under Pop-up Blocker click Settings

12. Copy and paste *.hants.gov.uk into the Address of website to allow field and click Add

13. The address will now be displayed in the Allowed sites field, click Close 14. You will be returned to the Internet Options window , go to the Advanced tab 15. Under Settings find the Security Heading and remove the tick against Do not save

encrypted pages to disk, click OK

Step 7 - Download and Install Java 1. Open Internet Explorer

2. Copy and paste http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp into the address bar and then click Free Java Download

3. Click Agree and Start Free Download, then click Run

4. A message will be displayed, Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer, click Yes

5. The Java Setup – Welcome window will open, click Install

6. Untick any options which ask you if you want to install software (as in the screenshot below) then click Next

7. A message will be displayed saying that you have successfully installed Java, click Close 8. Click Verify Java version page, close this page.

Step 8 - Download and install Citrix Receiver for Windows

1. Go to Internet Explorer and copy and paste this URL http://receiver.citrix.com/ into the address bar, then click Download Receiver for Windows

2. Read terms and conditions, tick I agree to the terms of the Citrix License Agreement, then click Continue

3. Click Run (bottom of screen)

4. A message will be displayed Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer, click Yes

5. A Citrix Receiver window will open, click on Install

6. The Citrix Receiver window will close once installation is completed and you should see the Black Citrix Receiver icon in the bottom right of the screen.

Step 9 - Log into Passport (installs Juniper software)

1. Go to Internet Explorer and copy and paste this URL https://passport.hants.gov.uk into the address bar

2. Type in your Hantsnet username, Hantsnet password, Passport PIN and token number and click Sign In

NB. If this is the first time you have logged into Passport, see the information on Learn.IT (http://www3.hants.gov.uk/learnit.htm – go to Passport > Setting up Passport)

3. Accept/Run/Install Active X control if prompted 4. Click Yes to install Host Checker if prompted

5. Click on the Hantsnet Desktop icon and agree to install Juniper Citrix Services Client 6. Once your Hantsnet desktop is loaded you may be prompted by a Citrix Receiver

Security warning box. If you are, tick Do not ask me again for this site and then click Permit use

You have now completed the installation process.
