Week 17

ON EAGLES WINGS

The verse that stands out for me this week is:

Exodus19:4-6 “ …and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself. Now if you will pay careful attention to what I say and keep My Covenant, then you will be My Own treasure from among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; and you will be a Kingdom of Cohanim for Me, a nation set apart.’

Exodus 20:24-25 “For Me you need make only an altar of earth; on it you will sacrifice your burnt offerings, peace offerings, sheep, goats and cattle. In every place where I cause My Name to be mentioned, I will come to you and Bless you. If you do make Me an altar of stone, you are not to build it of cut stones; for if you use a tool on it, you profane it.”

Consider This …

Let us start off by looking at the idea of the “place“ where we will meet with YHVH. There are two statements that come together.

YHVH carries us to Himself

YHVH comes to every place where His Name in mentioned Do both of these point us to the same place i.e .Jerusalem? OR

Can we interpret this differently?

(4)

When YHVH took them to Himself - the place named was Sukkoth.

Exodus 12:37 “Now the Israelites journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides (the women and) the children.”

The Place

Yet, how are we to think about the second statement - that YHVH comes to every place where His Name is mentioned!!

The Hebrew word used here is Strong’s 4725 “ma-kom” and carries the following meanings:

- A standing place

- A place of human abode - A city / land or region - A space

This certainly opens up the scope of the places where YHVH will come to. It really could be anywhere …

Remember!

There is another criteria …

The verse above uses the word ‘mentioned’ as the criteria.

Could that be all that is required?

The Hebrew word used here is Strong’s 2142 “zak-har” and carries the following meanings:

- To make a memorial

- To cause to be remembered - To record

- To mention

So, we now understand that it is something more than just “mentioning” YHVH’s Name that matters.

As we take a journey through some of these “remember” verses, we will build up a image of exactly what remembering is all about.

As you start to think about all of the things that you should be remembering … think about whether you are creating a “place” where YHVH will want to be?

If we see a rainbow (and think about the flood), we will remember the Covenant … just as YHVH remembers, so do we.

(5)

Genesis 9:14-15 “ … Whenever I bring clouds over the earth, and the rainbow is seen in the cloud; I will remember My Covenant which is between Myself and you …”

a) We are to remember our forefathers and the life choices that they made… we are to remember the role model of values / ethics that they lived. YHVH remembers their Covenantal commitment - if we remember that, (that same commitment, and repeat it in our lives), then we are blessed.

Exodus 32.13 “Remember Avraham, Yitz’chak and Isra’el, your servants, …”

b) We are to remember to put on the tassels / tzitzit so that we can be reminded during our daily walk through life, that we are set apart … that we are to keep these Commandments.

c) We are to remember to Sh’ma - hear and do that which YHVH requires of us … the Commandments and the prompting of the Holy Spirit.

Numbers 15:38-39 “Speak to the people of Isra’el, instructing them to make, through all their generations, tzitziyot on the corners of their garments, and to put with the tzitzit on each corner a blue thread. It is to be a tzitzit for you to look at and thereby remember all of ADONAI’s mitzvot and obey them, so that you won’t go around wherever your own heart and eyes lead you to prostitute yourselves;”

(6)

We are to remember that we were slaves, and now we are free men!

d) We are to remember our deliverance and therefore remember to keep the Shabbat.

Deuteronomy 5:15 “You are to remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and ADONAI your God brought you out from there with a strong Hand and an outstretched Arm. Therefore ADONAI your God has ordered you to keep the day of Shabbat.”

e) We are to remember that YHVH took us on a journey through the wilderness - in order that we could deal with our ego / pride / old-man and be renewed as warriors that could stand and take courage.

Deuteronomy 8:2 “You are to remember everything of the way in which ADONAI led you these forty years in the desert, humbling and testing you in order to know what was in your heart - whether you would obey His mitzvot or not.”

f) We are to remember that it is YHVH who gives us power to work, insight into opportunities, and the courage to be different.

Deuteronomy 8:18 “No, you are to remember ADONAI your God, because it is He who is

giving you the power to get wealth, in order to confirm His Covenant, which He swore to your ancestors, as is happening even today.”

g) We are to remember to keep YHVH’s Feasts, and to bring the first-fruits harvest, and live a life which reveals the spiritual reality of the Commandments of the Feast - while we keep the Feasts on the correct date / time and we Sh’ma … do all of the things in the physical space of the Feast, we are to remember to transform these Commandments into the spiritual reality of the Living Stone Tabernacle by removing the leaven of malice and wickedness from our lives.

Leviticus 23:4 “These are the designated times of ADONAI, the holy convocations you are to proclaim at their designated times.”

1 Corinthians 5:8 “So let us celebrate the Seder not with leftover hametz, the hametz of wickedness and evil, but with the matzah of purity and truth.”

h) We must remember to dedicate our firstborn to YHVH - when we accept Y’shua as Messiah and begin to walk in His ways, we have a responsibility to dedicate all of the firstborn to God … and then we accept the responsibility to teach them the ways of YHVH wherever we walk / sleep or live.

Exodus 13.11-12 “When ADONAI brings you into the Land of the Kena‘ani, as He swore to you and your ancestors, and gives it to you, you are to set apart for ADONAI everything that is first from the womb.”

(7)

Bore you on Eagles Wings

i) Finally, let’s remember that YHVH “naso” us all the way to Sukkot. It means that He carries us

It means that He supports us It means that He forgives us It means that He lifts up our heads

WHAT WE SHOULD TALK ABOUT THIS WEEK?

1. Have we remembered everything that YHVH has done for us, are we grateful, and do we acknowledge that fact?

2. Have we kept all the Commandments, especially the Shabbat, without rituals and man-made traditions, but with a circumcised heart?

3. Have we remembered to live by YHVH’s Values … justice, compassion, and humility?

(8)

A FINAL THOUGHT

We are called to walk a journey through this world … each one of us will be given a different road to walk i.e. different towns / cities to live, a different mix of peoples to interact with.

You have the opportunity of creating a place where YHVH will visit …

if only you will remember!!!

BLESSING

Numbers 6:24-27

“Y’varekh’kha YHVH v’yishmerekha.

May YHVH bless you and keep you.

Ya’er YHVH panav eleikha vichunekka.

May YHVH make His Face shine on you and show you His favour.

Yissa YHVH panav eleikha v’yasem l’kha shalom.

May YHVH lift up His Face toward you and give you peace.

Numbers 6:27 “In this way they are to put My Name on the people of Isra’el, so that I will
