EMPLOYMENT

2008-present: Assistant Professor in Operations and Supply Management at Warwick Business School, Warwick University, Coventry

 Member of the Operations Management team with responsibility for teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

 Design and deliver undergraduate courses in Operations Strategy, E-Business and  Supply Chain Management.

 Contribute towards the development and delivery of Operations Management, Operations Strategy and Supply Chain Management on a number of postgraduate and executive programs including the full-time, part-time and modular MBA programs, Distant Learning MBA, IBM MBA, General Energy MBA and MSc programs.

 Key member of the development team for the new specialist MSc in Operations and Supply Management program, acting as the liaison for the Steering Group.

 A key responsibility is to support the business schools strategy of becoming the leading European Business School through excelling at research. Individually and in collaboration with colleagues at Warwick and other institutes I am engaged in cutting edge research into the fields of relationship management and SCM.

2009-present: Visiting lecturer for the Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, School of International Management (Paris)

 Responsible for the development and delivery of the MBA and Executive MBA modules in Global Supply Chain Management

2010-present: Visiting lecturer for the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussees (Casablanca)

 Responsible for the development and delivery of the MBA module in Logistics and Supply Chain Management

2010-present: Visiting lecturer for School of Economics and Management of Tongji University (Shanghai)

 Responsible for the development and delivery of the MBA module in Global Supply Chain Management (SIMBA- Shanghai International MBA).

2000-2008: Research Fellow at the Centre for Business Strategy and Procurement, Birmingham

 Recent research focus (2005-present) has been in the food and farming sector. Helped develop and write a successful EPSRC bid. Instrumental in obtaining industry support in terms of in-kind support and financial commitment from the North West Food Alliance and The Red Meat Industry Forum. Managed this 30 month project which was focused on ¡¥Business Relationship Optimisation in UK Food Supply Chains¡¦. The research has advised participating companies (including Pioneer Food Services, Apetito and Cadbury¡¦s Schweppes) within the beef, lamb, pig, dairy and horticulture industries on the applicability of their current/future market and supply chain strategies.

 Completed a two-year project looking at supply chain improvement strategies, with twelve companies from various business sectors (including BUPA, Bernard Matthews, Carillion, Conoco and Rolls Royce). The work entailed investigating the supply chain circumstances using power analysis techniques devised at the center. The aim was to critically determine the competitive

2 position of the sponsor firms within specific supply chains. Work included the compilation and presentation via interactive workshops of reports detailing the alternative strategic sourcing options open to the companies involved within the study.

 Projects for both BUPA and the NHS have focused our commercial procurement competence awareness upon the public sector. Detailed analysis was carried out on several areas within the NHS to determine the strategic sourcing options open to NHS buyers for specific items of spend (such as for hips, Meropenem, infusion pumps and footwear and insoles). It was necessary to gain a detailed knowledge of public procurement practices when determining appropriate strategies. Feedback to the trust included written reports, presentation of findings and some public procurement competence training.

2002-present: Consultant and trainer for Newpoint Consulting

 Working as a consultant on supply chain mapping and analysis projects for clients, including NW Food Alliance (specifically looking at restructuring various farming supply chains from the perspective of the farmer). Helped develop a sourcing strategy for consulting & legal spend for EDS.

 Developed and delivered a range of professional training modules for corporate customers.

1996-2000: Managing Director, Global Creations Ltd, London

 Responsible for the sourcing, procurement and distribution of African art and crafts, predominantly sourced from Zimbabwe. Developed a detailed knowledge of import/export laws/procedures. Management of stock control, staffing and logistics of running one permanent and numerous temporary retail outlets. Managed financial and marketing aspects of the business and development, via training of sales staff’s marketing competence.

1996 : MSc Researcher, Rover Group Plc, Birmingham

 MSc Project involved working with automotive suppliers assessing their ability to be flexible and respond to fluctuations in demand (flexibility analysis). Performed process mapping and flexibility analysis on selected suppliers to critique the use of these techniques and to gain a better understand their supply base. Reported findings to Rover Procurement in the form of a report and presentation
