Main Roads WA, responsible for implementing WA’s policies on roads, needed a system to help manage the vast kilometres of roads in the state. Birchman (An SMS Management & Technology company) was brought on to help implement a Maintenance Management Information System (MMIS).
The MMIS application was designed to increase efficiency, lower costs, and solve problems like data duplication and errors experienced previously.
Mulpha wanted to integrate applications making them available across all branches, allowing the business gain a consolidated view of their assets, whilst reducing their IT overheads.
SMS proposed a hybrid Cloud-based solution, with an IaaS agreement, removing the need for significant capital investment. This enabled Mulpha to retain their current infrastructure and phase their assets out as they approached the end of their life. SMS also delivered 24 X 7 monitoring and support on the entire platform to ensure a high degree of system availability. This that Mulpha got a robust system which could support their business with minimal management required to keep it running. Over 3 years they would make direct savings of greater than 20%, as compared to a traditionally owned in-house IT infrastructure.

Following a new acquisition in 2012, CIMB had just five months to find a data centre co-location, build an IT infrastructure solution and establish connectivity with a broad array of service providers. SMS designed and delivered an end-to-end solution and delivered a reliable, fast and secure IT infrastructure which saves CIMB valuable time and money.

SEQWATER
CIMB
It needed to integrate with the central databases and geographic information systems. Deployed in the Microsoft Dynamics CRM framework it enabled two modes of operation, a desktop mode for office staff and a filed mode for crews on the road. MMIS meant field crews could report and locate faults nearby and send information back to the home office. The new system improved efficiency by 1.5% meaning additional maintenance could be completed within existing budgets.

Already benefiting from the cloud but looking to increase efficiencies, Seqwater had made the decision to change their hosting provider. SMS designed and managed the tools and processes to enable this move, and managed the entire migration process. As well as simplifying provisioning and improving reliability and governance, the new solution has reduced hosting costs by nearly $100k a year.
