Cloud Hybrid Search
• On-Premise content is stored in search index in O365
• Content queries in Office 365, will return search results from BOTH on-premises and O365 content
• Metadata encryption used to secure on-premises content
• Active Directory (AD) synchronization needs to be setup
• PS scripts needed from MS Connect:
‣ CreateCloudSSA.ps1 -> installs cloud search architecture
‣ Onboard-HybridSearch.ps1 -> configures server-server authentication, which allows servers
Cloud Hybrid Search
(continued…)
• Office Online Server (OOS) is needed for enabling previews of on-premises content
• Benefits:
‣ Smaller footprint of on-premises Search Server farm
‣ No upgrade of existing installation needed. SP2016 can crawl existing MOSS 2007, SP2010 and SP2013 content farms
SharePoint 2016 Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
DLP Query created in eDiscovery site collection
DLP Policy created in Compliance Center site collection and assigned to target site collection
Lessons Learned
• Office Online Server (OOS) as opposed to Office Web Apps (OWA) is needed for search previews of on-premise content

‣ sts.msp (reboot server)
‣ wssmui.wsp
‣ Individual Language Pack installer files
• Fast Site Collection Creation not supported for Team Sites
