GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

SPECIAL NOTE: Only pigs with veterinary inspection certificates will be allowed in the barns. PIGS MUST REMAIN ON TRAILERS UNTIL INSPECTED BY SWINE COMMITTEE. Once unloaded, all vehicles & trailers must be moved immediately to the designated area. Those parked incorrectly & left unattended will be towed.

1. Any one age 5 and under the age of 21 as of the date of the show will be eligible to exhibit.

2. Until further notice swine coming to Alabama must have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) and a statement by the accredited veterinarian stating “these animals do not originate from a premises quarantined for PEDv in the last 12 months and are not showing any signs of any contagious disease such as PEDv.” The CVI needs to include a premises number if known and adult breeding animals must have official ID.

3. All show animals are required to be owned by the exhibitor in whose name the entry is made, except in the case of more than one entry per class. If an exhibitor has more than one entry per class, another exhibitor must show it. The superintendent must approve exceptions to this rule (in case of emergency) by 5:00 PM on the show date. Ownership Date Deadline is October 1, 2019.

4. Any exhibitor, or owner, in any way involved in showing a fraudulent entry will automatically forfeit all prize money won by himself or his farm and will be barred from future participation in this show. 5. The show is open to either barrows or gilts. Barrows and Gilts will show separately, provided numbers

accommodate a separate Barrow Show in the Market Hog Division. Barrows and Gilts will show together in the Prospect Hog Division.

6. Exhibitors will have access to the show barn no earlier than Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 8:00 AM. Any upon whom this rule would work a hardship, may apply to the superintendent of the show for special consideration.

7. Weight classes will be broken by weight, with approximately 8-10 animals in each class depending on the number of entries.

8. There is a LIMIT OF THREE (3) HEAD per exhibitor for the PROSPECT HOG DIVISION. 9. Owners will furnish all feed for hogs.

10.The National Peanut Festival committee and show organizers will not be responsible for losses, injuries or mishaps that may befall animals during the show. All reasonable precautions will be taken to prevent losses or injuries.

11.No animals are to be carried, restrained or harassed in any way to cause undue stress on the animal. Anyone not abiding by this rule will be asked to leave the barn immediately.

12.Entry fee is $5.00 per head. Pen fee is $5.00 per pen with TWO pigs per pen and NO TACK PENS AVAILABLE. Please state the number of pens needed on your entry form. Exhibitors will no longer be required to clean their pens before leaving the fairgrounds. The deadline for registration forms and entry fees is October 11, 2019. No entries will be accepted after October 11, 2019. Any entries received after this date will be returned. NO EXCEPTIONS! Entry fees and the “Ag Fees Payment Form” must

accompany the entry form.

13.The Committee will interpret all rules not covered in the general rules.

14.Prize money will be mailed from the National Peanut Festival office. Please include your complete mailing address on your entry form. All winners are required to supply their Social Security Number to the NPF office in order to process premium checks. No premium money will be issued to winners without this information.

15.All entries will be weighed, tagged and numbered by 3:00 PM (CST), Tuesday, November 5th. One reweigh will be allowed only on light or heavy entries. (NO EXCEPTIONS ON WEIGH-IN CUT OFF TIME!!)

16.No water hoses will be allowed in the barns. You will be required to keep your aisles cleaned.

17.All Market Hogs weighing over 290 lbs. will be placed in a collective weight class with no contention for champion.

18.Any complaint must be submitted in writing within ten (10) days of the occurrence to the National Peanut Festival office.

19.ABSOLUTELY NO PERSONS OVER NIGHT SLEEPING OR STAY IN BARN.

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. The contest will have seven age divisions with ages based on the date of the contest. Please list your birth date on the Market Hog Show entry form. Age divisions may be altered due to number of entries. 2. This contest is open only to show exhibitors and the animal they own. (Prospect & Market)

3. All contestants must supply their own equipment.

JUNIOR HOG SHOW RULES AND REGULATIONS

SPECIAL NOTE: Only pigs with veterinary inspection certificates will be allowed in the barns. PIGS MUST REMAIN ON TRAILERS UNTIL INSPECTED BY SWINE COMMITTEE. 1. Each exhibitor must be a member of a 4-H, FFA or FCCLA club and owner of exhibit. 2. Each exhibitor will show animals at own risk and must furnish own feed and care.

3. Until further notice, swine coming to Alabama must have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) and a statement by the accredited veterinarian stating “these animals do no originate from a

premises quarantined for PEDv in the last 12 months and are not showing any signs of any

contagious disease such as PEDv”. The CVI needs to include a premises number if know and adult

breeding animals must have official ID. All swine exhibited must be accompanied by an official health certificate indicating they are free from all contagious and infectious diseases. The certificate must be signed by an accredited veterinarian. All breeding animals must have tested negative in all dilutions to Brucellosis or originate from a validated herd. This information must be recorded on the official health certificate and, in the case of having originated from a validated herd, the certificate number and the expiration date must be recorded. All swine exhibited must have tested negative for Pseudo-rabies within 30 days of the show and must originate from a herd that had no signs of Pseudo-rabies within the previous 12 months or a qualified free herd.

4. Registration papers are required for each animal entered and must be presented at the time of entry.

5. Exhibitor may enter only 4 animals per LOT.

6. Any breed will have at least 4 animals to show as a breed. Breeds with less than 4 entries will be grouped and shown as Mixed Breed.

DIANNE BRANNON SHOWMANSHIP COMPETITION – DIVISION 227

This competition, in memory of Dianne Brannon of Malvern, AL is held each year to promote interest in hogs, quality showmanship and for entertainment.

1. Open to all ages, toddlers through adults. 2. Competition will be held during the swine show. 3. No requirements for entry.

4. Only gilts are allowed to be used in this contest. No Boars.

5. The judge evaluates the performance of the person and his/her efforts in preparing the hog for the show, and not the hog.

6. “Old Timers” will be exhibition only. No premiums will be paid to these exhibitors.
