T

he National GO Awards are the foremost recognition of excellence within public procurement in the UK. Established in 2001, the National GO Awards have tracked the rise of public procurement from a back-offi ce function to its position today as a key infl uencer in the successful delivery of the public services that we all rely upon.

Public procurement spend in the UK is currently valued at over £200bn annually. Ensuring that the taxpayer receives maximum benefi t from every pound spent is the work of highly skilled and dedicated procurement professionals within all shapes and sizes of organisation, supported by suppliers from the private and third sectors.

The National GO Awards are unique in recognising innovation, excellence and progress within this sector. These are the Awards that all involved in this sector want to win – as a testament to their achievements, and as a means of raising the benchmark for others to follow.

Aligning your organisation with the National GO Awards will deliver tremendous benefi t in terms of positive association, support for the outstanding work being done and access to the key infl uencers and decision makers in this sector. Ensure you take advantage of this rare

ith the 2014/15 ceremony selling out, the National GO Awards

are unrivalled in their reach, infl uence and participation from

across the entire UK public procurement sector.

The benefi ts of sponsor involvement in the National GO Awards accrue well in advance of the event itself, and extend long after. Our sponsorship packages refl ect this, with visibility in pre and post event branding, as well as at the Awards ceremony itself.

The National GO Awards are a unique platform for your organisation to position itself alongside the leading proponents of procurement reform.

Whether you are established within this sector, or aiming to build brand awareness, the Awards provide a rare opportunity to engage

directly with key infl uencers and decision makers. As a sponsor, your

brand will be positively associated with the many innovations and initiatives that make public procurement in the UK something to be

proud of. In addition, sponsorship provides direct access to public

procurement’s top table – a high-value opportunity to create or develop the relationships that matter most to your organisation.

Sponsorship of the National GO Awards raises your organisation’s profi le across the entire public procurement community.

Our extensive pre and post event communications strategy reaches from central government departments through to thousands of local procurement offi cers across all public bodies in the UK.

1

GO Sustainability / Corporate Social

Responsibility Initiative of the Year Award

This Award recognises the crucial role that public procurement can play in providing a more sustainable and equitable society. It recognises the transition that sustainability and Corporate

Social Responsibility (CSR) approaches have made from being

a background issue to a primary concern. The Award highlights those organisations that have embraced the sustainability and CSR

agenda and made it a key component of their procurement activities – whether as a buyer or supplier – delivering not just a neutral impact on the environment as a consequence, but a clear benefi t.

2

GO Contract Management Initiative

of the Year Award

This Award recognises the importance of skilful and highly effective contract management. Once the tendering exercise has been completed and the transfer to the delivery phase has been made, the question of how effectively the contract is being managed to ensure that the expectations are not only met but exceeded

remains. How healthy is the relationship between buyer and supplier, how proactive is each party in accommodating change

and evolution, how well are the requirements of the buyer and end user being met and, most importantly, is the anticipated value of the

contract being recognised now that it is in place?

3

GO Small Business / Third Sector

Engagement Initiative of the Year Award

This Award recognises the crucial role that small businesses and

the voluntary sector play in the delivery of public services across the UK. It highlights examples of outstanding engagement and

partnership between public bodies and such organisations, with

a particular focus on maximising the benefi t of their involvement in the supply chain. This Award is not just about transparent promotion of opportunities, but also the detailed practices, policies

and behaviours that ensure small businesses and voluntary

organisations engage effectively, contribute massively and share in the benefi ts of supplying to the public sector.

4

GO Best Service Award

The effective delivery of public services in the UK is dependent

on a robust, vibrant and innovative supply chain. The GO Best Service Award recognises the critical part that private and third

sector organisations play in ensuring end-user expectations are met, or even better exceeded – while paying heed to issues such as effi ciency and sustainability.

The GO Best Service Award is open to organisations of all sizes – from micro SMEs to multinationals. The focus is on the quality, innovation and positive impact of the service provided, rather than the size of the organisations delivering it.

Entries must have the support of the public sector body on whose behalf the organisation has delivered the service. Additional credit will be given to entries that provide evidence from end-users of how

the service has impacted upon them.

5

GO Supply Chain Initiative of the Year Award

This Award refl ects the essential role that prime contractors play

within the public sector supply chain, and recognises those that take

exceptional measures to open up their own supply chain, integrating

smaller businesses and voluntary organisations into it. Appreciating the responsibilities that prime contractors have when delivering

large projects on behalf of the public sector, this Award puts the spotlight on those that see the bigger picture and fully embrace the values of public procurement. It is not solely about the transparent promotion of opportunities, but also the detailed practices, policies

and behaviours that ensure small businesses and voluntary

organisations engage effectively, contribute massively and share in the benefi ts of supplying to the public sector.

GO Procurement Innovation or

Initiative of the Year Award

(Health or Social Care Organisations)

Pressure creates diamonds, and in the demanding world of public procurement the need for new approaches, fresh thinking and brilliantly executed ideas has never been more urgent. The UK has already established a reputation for innovative procurement, and this category seeks to further highlight its success in this area. The GO Procurement Innovation or Initiative of the Year Award brings creativity and imagination to the fore; celebrating concepts that have made a genuine difference within the public procurement

sector. The entry criteria are simple – the innovation or initiative can

come from any quarter, and can be of any scale: but it must be a

genuine advance within public procurement, and must be compliant

with existing procurement legislation.

GO Procurement Innovation or

Initiative of the Year Award

(Local Authorities, Consortia and Other Organisations)

8

GO Team of the Year Award

(

Local Government and Consortia)

Team working is pivotal to the success of public procurement, and the GO Team of the Year Award recognises the power and potential of a focused and unified approach to procurement initiatives. Teams

can be based within one organisation or spread over multiple

organisations; but they must comprise individuals working towards the same objective or goal. Above all, this Award recognises

communication, collaboration and a collective determination to

deliver excellence in public services.

Recognition is given based on the accomplishments of the team in relation to its size and the complexity of its procurement activities.

9

10

GO Procurement Leadership

of the Year Award

An excellent procurement exercise or initiative is something to be commended, but such projects would not be possible without a

robust procurement strategy.

The GO Procurement Leadership of the Year Award recognises the

vital role an innovative and ground breaking procurement strategy plays in helping organisations drive local best practice, deliver savings and demonstrate they are working towards improving their

capability. The Award also focuses on the effectiveness of the

organisation at managing relationships with internal stakeholders to deploy their procurement strategy and how it supports their strategic

plan and core business and service objectives.
