AX Reports Developer

The Finance and Services Division provides accurate and punctual financial management, reports and forecasts on the organisation’s income and expenditure. The division empowers and builds the capacity of the field offices and Partners to manage funds effectively and efficiently, meeting international
standards and the standards of the IR donor agencies. This is achieved through both organisational and individual learning, and through an organisation-wide system of development and deployment. The ICT Department is responsible for all IT services to the entire organisation across three key areas, Infrastructure, Information Systems and Service Delivery. We are leading an international strategy to consolidate services and centralise infrastructure across the world, laying the foundations for a more connected & effective organisation. ICT also ensures the development; utilisation and maintenance of all systems enable the organisation to reach current and future strategic objectives.
JOB PURPOSE:
The AX Reports Developer (AXRD) is responsible for the development and optimisation of reports and role centres for Islamic Relief’s global multi-company Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP platform.

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
Works within AX Configuration and AX Deployment teams
Regularly engages and liaises with International Office departments, Islamic Relief Partners and Islamic Relief Field Offices.
Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external clients, to make sure ICT services are provided to the highest quality.
SCOPE AND LIMITS OF AUTHORITY Scope of the Role:
Reporting to the Business Systems Manager, the AX Reporting Developer (AXRD) will be responsible for development, optimisation and maintenance of SSRS, Excel and X++ reports for our Microsoft Dynamics AX platform. As part of a team, he/she will work with systems analysts, infrastructure engineers and business stakeholders to ensure that reporting requirements are fulfilled. The role has no direct budget responsibility, but may be required to input into budget decisions.

1. SSRS and X++ Reports Development
To complete all necessary design, development and customisation of SSRS, AX (X++) and Atlas (Excel) reports to meet requirements of users.
To design, develop and customise reporting components of AX Role Centres and Enterprise Portal (SSRS) delivered reports.
To support, maintain, optimise and performance-tune reports for optimal performance and user experience.
To design and execute robust test scenarios ensuring that report data is accurate
To ensure day-to-day management of change requests.
To interact with service users at globally including IR partners to inform, assist and resolve relevant technical issues
To support infrastructure specialists in optimising SSRS and SQL server configuration for improved reporting performance
To maintain up-to-date documentation for customisations and new reports 2. Enterprise Portal (EP) Development
To complete all necessary design, development and configuration of AX Enterprise Portal (SharePoint) to deliver reports and role centres
To implement usability enhancements to existing EP forms and pages as per requirements from the Systems Analyst and other team members
To ensure optimal performance for Enterprise Portal reports and pages 3. Support and Maintenance
To support and work with colleagues in AX Configuration, AX Deployment and Infrastructure teams in the delivery of ICT Division objectives as required
To be responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving of MS SQL Server and SSRS/SSAS for the AX platform.
To analyse bugs and faults and provide remedies accordingly.
To interact with third-party external service providers to resolve issues. This includes working with our Microsoft preferred partner to help fulfil change requests, new developments and fix bugs
4. Service Delivery
To ensure all work is completed according to industry standards and current AX best practice.
To ensure full documentation exists for all the developments and configuration work completed.
To contribute knowledge base articles in areas of expertise for team knowledge and learning. This includes taking the lead on AX and related reporting modules (Atlas Reports) and contributing articles to help first line support colleagues to quickly resolve issues relating to your area of work.
To comply with organisational policies and standards (AX, ITIL, SLA etc...)
Willingness to travel sometimes internationally and work outside normal office hours
PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential:
Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications
Competent in production of SSRS and X++ reports (Dynamics AX and EP)
Solid SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) skills including cube building and table design.
Good knowledge of the Microsoft BI stack (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS)
Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 (AOT, classes. Form validations, business logic)
Experience of OLAP cubes and SQL Server 2008/R2
Knowledge of building dashboards in SharePoint
Proficient in X++ programming and good understanding of the MorphX IDE, Microsoft .NET
Working knowledge of SQL Server 2005/2008 maintenance & backup.
Working knowledge of VB & Visual Basic Studio.
Excellent English literacy (verbal and written)
Experience
Experience of creating financial reports in SSRS and X++
Extensive experience of working with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009
Experience of SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
Hands on experience in developing AX solutions including Enterprise Portal, SharePoint and SSRS
Exposure to working within full project lifecycle and in large cross-functional teams is desirable
