KMH 880

Honeywell has combined the unmatched flexibility of Integrated Hazard Avoidance System with the reliability and capability of an active-interrogation Traffic Advisory System (TAS) to create the KMH 880 Multi-Hazard Awareness System. This system pairs the KTA 870, which delivers TAS, with the KGP 560 Enhanced Ground Proximity Warning System - making this a powerful duo for safety in the sky. Traffic systems can track up to 60 aircraft and display information on up to 30. Eight pilot-selectable ranges from 2 nm to 40 nm show three levels of intruders: non-threat, proximity intruder and Traffic Advisory (TA). The KMH 880 features two directional antennas, each weighing less than a pound, and taking up a third the space of traditional TCAS antennas.The directional antennas, one placed on top of your aircraft, the other on the bottom, minimize own-aircraft shadowing and maximize range. A bottom omni-directional antenna is also available for aircraft with fixed gear. The KMH 880 benefits from flexible display volumes.The system displays aircraft up to 8,700 feet above or below your aircraft. On takeoff, you can select the "above" view, and the system will display traffic 8,700 feet above and 2,700 feet below to concentrate on the space above you; on approach, you can select "below" and the system will display traffic 2,700 feet above and 8,700 feet below. Enroute, a "normal" selection will track aircraft 2,700 feet above and below your aircraft.

MK V

The MK V EGPWS, exceeding the FAA TSO - C151b requirements for TAWS, provides protection against Controlled Flight Into Terrain (CFIT) and windshear. The system achieves this objective by accepting a variety of aircraft parameters as inputs, applying proprietary alerting algorithms, and providing the flight crew with aural alert messages, visual annunciations, and displays in the event that the boundaries of any alerting envelope are exceeded. EGPWS incorporates many features not found in some competing systems such as pin-selectable altitude callouts, envelope modulation, geometric altitude algorithm, turn extrapolation, auto display pop-up, auto tilt of weather radar, and the ability to host Honeywell's Runway Awareness and Advisory System. A menu of 64 pin selectable altitude callouts is also provided during approach. Visual and aural warnings of impending CFIT are provided via Honeywell's unique computer algorithms that can detect an increase or decrease in aircraft performance which is indicative of entry into windshear. Honeywell's MK V EGPWS computers are the only TAWS computers capable of providing detection and timely alerts of windshear conditions. MK VI

The MK VI version of Honeywell's EGPWS is a Class A TAWS that has been optimized for regional turboprop aircraft and provides protection against controlled flight into terrain (CFIT). CFIT warnings include excessive rate of descent, terrain closure rate, excessive altitude loss after takeoff or missed approach procedure, insufficient terrain clearance, descent below

glideslope, and excessive bank angle. It also provides callouts at various radio altitudes and DH minimums during approach. Windshear detection is not provided by the MK VI.

The MK VII enhanced ground proximity warning system provides protection against controlled flight into terrain (CFIT) as well as wind shear. MK VIII

The MK VIII version of Honeywell's EGPWS is a Class A TAWS that has been optimized for aircraft serving various markets. Offering many of the features and interfaces of the MK V and MK VII EGPWS, the MK VIII helps to prevent accidents caused by Controlled Flight into Terrain (CFIT). The system achieves this by using a number of aircraft inputs, applying proprietary alerting algorithms, and alerting the crew with aural messages, visual indications, and a display of terrain in the event the boundaries of the alerting envelope have been exceeded. System configuration is controlled via a programmable module. The MK VIII offers a worldwide terrain database, making it ideal for business jets and large turboprops with transcontinental missions. The MK VIII can be flexibly configured for runway lengths 3,500 feet or greater (for use in turbojets) or runway lengths 2,000 feet or greater (for use in turboprops). Databases are loaded via a convenient ATA format PCMCIA card using Honeywell's SmartCable interface.

The basic MFD provides interfaces for a GPS a WX-500 Stormscope, and for an NTC video input. Various plug in modules support additional functions. These modules presently include the KAC 501 Weather Radar Interface Modules, the KAC 502 EGPWS Interface Module and the KAC 504 Traffic Interface Module. The modular design of the MFD not only permits easy field upgraddes, but also allows each function (map, weather, traffic, and terrain) to operate continously in the background, regardless of what the crew has selected to be shown on the display. The MFD utilizes a 5'' diagonal AMLCD to display a detail moving map that includes three integrated sets of data. The aeronautical database utilizes a customized Jeppesen database with airports, victor airways, VORs, NDBs and special use airspace (included altitude limits). The enhanced cartographic database includes rivers, roads, lakes, coastlines, cities, railroads tracks and towers (including AGL and MSL altitudes - US only). The topographical/elevation database provides altitude information and topographical shading. The KMD 850 Multi function Display is the centerpiece for the IHAS 5000 System. This system is specially designed for aircraft without a weather radar system.
