6. Gradebook
All of your assignments and graded activities will automatically be placed into the gradebook. NDU LMS allows you to view, change and sort into categories and calculate grade totals in various ways. If there are no assignments or activities created, the
gradebook will not display any grades. Furthermore, you as a teacher has the choice to show the gradebook to your students or not.
44 Example Grade Calculation:
Term Grade Calculation
First Trinal Grade 60% CS + 40% Exam
Midterm Grade TMG = 60% CS + 40% Exam
MG = 66.67% TMG + 33.33% FTG
Final Grade TFG = 60% CS + 40% Exam
FG = 50% TFG + 50% MG
To start the grade calculation of students’ activities, you have to access the Gradebook setup of your course.

1. Aggregation Type
Aggregation determines how grades in a category are combined, such as:
1. Mean of grades: the average score is calculated as the final score by adding up the total grades awarded and dividing it by the total number of graded items. 2. Weighted Mean of Grades: each graded item can be given a weight. The grade
given for the assessed item is multiplied by the item’s weight to create an increased item grade. The final grade is calculated by adding together the increased item grades and then dividing them by the total weights applied.

46 3. Simple weighted mean of grades: this is the default aggregation method when
no settings have been changed within the Gradebook.
4. Median of grades: the middle grade when grades are arranged in order of size 5. Mode of grades: The grade that occurs the most frequently
6. Natural – the sum of all grade values scaled by weight
2. Letters
Letter grades are essentially number grades that are shown as letters or number presentation in the Gradebook. You can also edit it at course level.
3. Category
First Trinal Grade, Midterm Grade, Final Grade, Class Standing, Examinations, Quizzes, Class Participations and attendance are all categories. You can add a category by clicking the Add Category button.
