You can describe a Container from different points of view:
From a computer science viewpoint, containers are an operating system
level isolation method for running multiple applications on a single host.
From a development and IT viewpoint, containers are a new approach to
build, ship, deploy and instantiate applications.
}
Windows Server Containers are a lightweight operating
system level method to isolate processes, applications
or services from other services running on the same
container host. To enable this, each container has its
own view processes, file system, registry, while being
uniquely addressable over the network.
Hyper-V Containers are Windows Containers running within a
Hyper-V partition to provide multi-tenant isolation. Hyper-V
Containers provide the ability to run different kernel instances
on the same system. Hyper-V Containers provide hardware
isolation which is great for hostile multi-tenant environments
or for environments with compliance requirements that require
hardware isolation.
