INSIDE THIS ISSUE : M A Y ME E T I N G- Z O O M

Monday, May 17, 2021, at 6:30 p.m. IN PERSON Theme: Nature

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Hey guys, we need to talk.

Much to my chagrin, I can’t help but notice our numbers seem to be dwin- dling. Admittedly, some of our members are aging out and others are moving on, but we’re not doing a very good job of bringing in new members. I realize its difficult being an art club in a non-artistic community, but we’re shrinking.

I did a little research on ways to draw people into an organization and one suggestion stood out to me. “Let people know the benefits of joining your organization”.

I want you guys to think. If you were trying to convince someone to join the Guild, what would you say the benefits of being a member are? I want you to think about this and be prepared to talk about this at the next meeting.

Debbye

UPCOMING WORKSHOP

We are getting ready for a workshop to be held on a Saturday, date undeter- mined in June or July, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Be prepared to discuss at the next meeting a convenient date. We will select a date that is convenient for most of the members.

The workshop will be available to the public. There is a $10 fee. You will bring a sack lunch, pencils and a notebook. We will watch a video on the Principles and Elements of the Design of a Painting. Look forward to a lot of tips and sug- gestions on how to improve your artwork.

“Art only begins where imitation ends.” Oscar Wilde

A young artist exhibits her work for the first time….and a well-known art critic is in attendance.

The critic says to the young artist,“Would you like my opinion on your work?”

“Yes,” says the artist. “It’s worthless,” says the critic.

The artist replies, “I know, but tell me anyway.”
