Association Meetings

Academic year 2020-21

 The Department of Physics (UAP), National College, Tiruchirapalli, inaugurated the Physics Association on 22-10-20. Dr. P.Mani, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Anna University, BIT Campus, Tiruchirappalli, was the chief guest and delivered a special lecture on “OPPORTUNITIES IN PHYSICS –WHAT NEXT?”. The chief guest, in his informative talk introduced the various avenues available for Physics students to progress further in their career and suggested some preparatory guidelines to the students. Earlier

the student secretary Ms.P.Sharon of II MSc Physics welcomed the gathering.

Dr. R. Sundararaman, Principal delivered the presidential address. Mr. A. Karthik Charan of III B.Sc. Physics introduced the chief guest. Dr. S. Pari, Head, Department of Physics,

felicitated and Ms. P. Karishma of II B.Sc. Physics delivered the vote of thanks.

Dr.P. Jaikumar, Assistant Professor and Head In-charge (UAP) and Dr. S. Manivel, Assistant Professor and Vice-President of Physics Association (UAP) organized the meeting.

Academic year 2019-20

 The inaugural meeting of the Physics Association was held on 15.07.2019. The Chief Guest of the meeting was Dr. S. Gunasekaran, Dean of Research and Development, St. Peter’s Institute of Higher Education, Avadi, Chennai. He inaugurated the activities of the association for the academic year and had delivered a talk on “Concepts and Development for inspiring innovations”. Dr. S. Jayakumar, Associate Professor of Physics, Vivekananda

College, Chennai was another guest of honour and offered felicitations.

Mr. P. Senthilkumar, II M.Sc. Physics welcomed the gathering. Ms.V.Apurva and Ms.P.Vithya introduced the guests to the audience. Mr. V. Ragul Velan, I M.Sc. Physics proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. M.Elanthiraiyan the Vice President, Physics Association has arranged and coordinated the meeting.

 Physics Association organized a meeting on 04.01.2020. Dr. Suresh Sagadevan, Senior Research fellow, Nanotechnology and catalysis Research centre, University of Malaysia, delivered a lecture on “Emerging Nanostructures for Social Applications”. In the special address he spoke on student participation in research activity in Nano Technology. He explained Nano technological application in various fields of science giving examples of how Nano Technology has become part of our life, also especially in the field of medicine and sensors. Dr. R. Sundararaman, Principal stressed the importance of special lectures and advised the students to make optimal use of this avenue of learning the student secretary P. Ponnusamy proposed a vote of thanks. Dr. M.Elanthiraiyan the Vice President, Physics Association, organized the meeting.

 At the third meeting of the physics association held on 24.02.2020. Dr. A. Viswanthan, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Anna University, Tiruchirappalli, delivered a lecture on “Laser and its Application” Dr. R. Sundararaman, Principal honored the chief guest and the deliver inauguration address Dr.S. Pari, welcomed the gathering. Chief Gust, Dr. M.Elanthiraiyan introduced the speaker (our Alumni), The Chief Guest explicated the basic Principle involved in Laser and its various applications. The lecture was integrative and the students participated with interesting queries. R. Mukilan II M.Sc., Student proposed vote of thanks.

 The department of Physics (UAP), National College, Tiruchirapalli, inaugurated the Physics Association on 27-08-19. Dr. T.C. Sabarigirisun, Assistant Professor, School of Physics, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, was the chief guest and delivered a special lecture on “ERA OF NONLINEARITY”. The chief guest started with a brief motivation on what physics is all about and from there he stepped into the wide concepts of Lasers and Nonlinearity. His speech was stimulating and thought provoking with the concepts of Lasers and its applications. The students participated and interacted with the speaker enthusiastically. He motivated the students to take part in the research and explain

the scope of the research in the field of Nanophotonics. Earlier the student secretary R. Mukilvannan, of II MSc Physics welcomed the gathering. Dr. R. Sundararaman,

Principal delivered the presidential address and honoured the chief guest. Ms. Sharon of I MSc Physics introduced the chief guest. Dr.P.S.S. Akilashri, Vice Principal (UAP), and Dr. S. Pari, Head, Department of Physics, felicitated and Girrish of II-Msc Physics delivered the vote of thanks. Mr. S. Sivakumar, Vice president of the Physics association organized the meeting.

Educational Tour

1.1 Nearly 75 students of Physics visited ANNA PLANETARIUM in Trichy on 25 – 07 – 2019. They watched a sound and light show about our Universe and Moon.

1.2 Nearly 50 students of UG and PG Physics went to an educational trip to Trivandrum during 19 -21, September 2019. They Visited VIKRAM SARABAI SPACE CENTRE (ISRO), TRIVANDRAM. They also visited PRIYADHARSHINI PLANATORIUM and NEIYAAR DAM.

Outreach Program

We arranged an outreach program for the 12 th standard students in Annai girls Hr. Sec.

School, Sempattu, Trichy on 25 – 01 - 2020. Two of our Physics Professors took classes and explained physics practicals.

Department of Physics arranged parent teachers meet for all UG students on 02 – 03 – 2020.

Volunteer in the Science Exhibition

Mr. Pathisen, of II – MSc Physics acted as volunteer in first ever exhibition of mega science projects of India organized by DST and DAE in Vivesvaraya Museum, Bengaluru.

TWO OF OUR STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN "JAMPHY - 2019" THE SCIENCE EXTRAVAGANZA ORGANIZED BY JAMAL MOHAMED COLLEGE AND WON THE THIRD PRIZE IN THE EVENT 'SOUNDS OF SILENCE.

FOUR STUDENTS OF OUR PHYSICS DEPARTMENT PARTICIPATED IN THE TWO-DAY STATE LEVEL TECHNICAL WORKSHOP ON "INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS" DURING 18th and 19th JULY 2019, ORGANIZED BY THE T.N.STATE COUNCIL FOR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, AT SATTUR.
