Random Acts of Kindness

Do you know a fellow resident who goes out of their way to help others? Nominate someone by writing their name and why you are nominating them in the suggestion boxes in J1 and J2. (Located on 1st floor in each tower). Winner wins a $10 gift card to Randy’s

Restaurant.

There are many residents who are following the CDC guidelines by wearing masks and socially distancing. To show our appreciation, Jessica and Grace have randomly chosen one person from each tower to recognize for continuing to keep themselves and others safe during this time!

Dial Back, Minnesota!!

COVID-19 Goodhue County Hotline 651-201-3920 or 1-800-657-3903

Open 7am– 7pm Daily

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to present an unprecedented and rapidly evolving challenge to our State. Minnesota has taken extraordinary steps to prevent and respond to the pandemic, but our case numbers statewide have continued to rise and our hospitals are reaching capacity. The data demonstrates that we’re facing a long winter ahead––but

together we can make an impact. While the present moment is challenging, we can begin to imagine the day a safe and effective vaccine becomes available.

Dial Back, Minnesota is a temporary pause of most social activities, in-person dining, sports, and indoor fitness activity. This four-week pause will be in place between November 20, 2020, through December 18, 2020. While some businesses can continue to offer goods and services in a safe manner, many others will again have to weather the challenge of adjusting their operations to “to-go” or virtual means. We hope these temporary changes will reduce the number of infections while safely supporting our schools, hospitals, and economy. Another important development is that our testing options have expanded greatly. There is now a range of accessible choices available, all with quick and reliable results. Minnesota remains dedicated to providing no-barrier access to testing to everyone who needs it, at zero cost. As we continue to experience a growing demand for testing, we urge you to follow recommendations on who needs to be tested and when, and to make appointments ahead of time when you can.

We all must continue to do our part. Wearing a mask is simple; nearly everyone can do it. When paired with other steps, like social distancing, washing your hands, testing often, and by following the guidance closely, we can stay safe and slow the spread.

Survival Guide to Social Distancing

If you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed, you are not alone. Here is a

list of what you can do to overcome social distancing and isolation.

 A benefit of COVID-19 is that you are able to experience solitude by having alone time to pray, meditate, and enjoy the arts. You can reflect and have a moment to be. Did you know, solitude can strengthen connections with others?

 You can ask yourself the question, “How often have I offered to help someone?” Asking this question gives you a reminder of your values when you help others.

You should spend a minimum of 15 minutes a day with loved ones. Right now, a phone call or video chat is best. Even if you sit in silence and do not talk, just knowing you are with someone is beneficial.

 When you communicate with others you should turn off all the distractions, such as the TV or radio. People’s minds race back and forth to multi-task. We cannot fully focus on two tasks at once.

 Do multiple tasks that can get you outside to connect with others, such as shopping and other essential tasks that require being around people, while practicing the CDC

guidelines.

 Some websites have events that could have socially distant activities. Usually these would be done virtually.

 Buying a weighted blanket can provide grounding and comfort.  Practice gratitude and compassion.

 Be a friend to yourself. Slow down. Imagine a friend telling you, “May you be safe and protected. May you be peaceful and well.” Then, say it to yourself.

 Think of your heart pumping blood to the rest of your body. The pause is what the heart needs to do to send blood to the rest of the body. You need to pause and slow down to take care of yourself.

 You should ask yourself,

 What do you love doing most? How come?  What do you most dread? How come? How do you respond to stress? How come?

Jordan Tower I Sealant Project

The work on the air conditioner sleeves has continued and is expected to be completed by December 18, 2020. Once the air conditioner sleeve work is completed, all remaining work will be halted for the winter and will resume in the Spring.

Entry into Units: Each unit will need to be entered to install the air conditioner sleeve. The process to replace an air conditioner sleeve is approximately 2 hours in each unit. HRA staff will accompany the contractor and all parties will be wearing a mask. You will receive a notice in your box when they are planning to enter your unit.

Inspection of Inside Work: The architect and contractor will need to enter most of the units to inspect the work that was completed. It is planned to occur on Thursday, December 10, 2020. You will receive a notice on this as well.

Final Repairs and Installation: The contractor will need to access all units the week of December 14-18, 2020. This is to do any final repairs that may be needed and to install the new air conditioner covers. A notice will be sent out if needed.

Parking Lot: The parking lot is expected to be open on December 18, 2020. Balconies: The balconies are remaining closed during the winter months.

If you are under quarantine or tested positive for COVID-19, please call the office immediately to inform staff.

Cable and Phone Update

There has been a delay due to the pandemic and the new HD TV system is still being

processed. Once the HRA receives confirmation of completion, notices will go out with the date of installation for the new system.

On the date of installation, if you currently have our cable, staff will be entering your unit to program your TV. The channel listing will be the same plus some additional channels. For the DirecTV channels, there will be a guide channel. For the over-air channels, there will not be a guide channel. More information will be sent out with the notices.

As for your television set, this system will not work with tube TV’s or Element Brand TV’s. (Some options of TV’s that do work are LG, Toshiba, Vizio)
